L&G Affordable Homes have paid GI a deposit for a charge over the Abbey Stadium plot with an intention to buy and develop it.

So they become the mortgage/asset holder if Osbourne defaults or sells in the future along with  Lloyds ?

It could be interpreted that Osborne is looking to move the stadium land on. I wonder if his recent planning change for that land has been pushed back?

You could be right, reading through to charge docs ( heavy reading) it looks like a sort of remortgage with LG so either way osbourne gets more cash and is able to continue activities at the stadium going forward until he’s finished with it and then they will redevelop it subject to planning (there’s a laugh not)

I had this post ready before your latest I will read article

Yes they show the header page of the docs I’ve just read as I say it looks as though he can carry on using it before cashing in his chips

Legal & General do a lot of construction work, they own CALA homes and do developments such as the one  I'm involved in which is a retirement complex with a nursing home, village core and cottages, if they get their hands on it they will build on it in some form.

They do a lot more than insurance and finance.

Thanks, I was aware of That, I think we know that the idea was to build on it all along this is just another step along the way.Osbourne has spread his risk by offloading bits and pieces to anyone who will give him cash up front. Swindon Council should stand firm against any future planning requests for the actual stadium, but somehow I do not believe they will especially with the prospect of a labour gov who have said they will allow more building more or less anywhere.

Building on the plot was obviously GI's plan from day one back in the mid-noughties, as many realised.

I'm sure the original plan was for Osborne to develop the whole plot himself, but as you say, he's now offset some risk and potential planning pain by selling the stadium footprint.

I'm sure L&G wouldn't be in the business of buying this if they didn't have some assurance that the planning change of use is likely to get pushed through.

Sadly this is probably the case L&G would see this as a good investment as the likely hood of getting planning permission some time in the future is as you say is almost assured and of course Osbourne gets his money without all of the hassle before retirement.                                       l notice that George Edwards is no longer a director of Gaming  maybe he’s the start of the wind down ?

The normal suspects  .. Tomlinson , Robbins and Adam making the normal noises about having meetings and stopping this and taking action etc  Of course then nothing any happens and the work just carries on .

When this idiot and Taylor Wimpey puppet Oli Stone get's in it should make it   easy for Osborne and co

Yeh so much for all of them and still no mention of the planning infringements that are taking as long to investigate as the whole sorry saga since 2008.

Nearly every single club is broke, sponsorship is the only thing keeping this sport alive
