Obviously from a financial point of view it’s better to build but as my initial post, they haven’t built on the track and the business like macdonalds and greggs would of benefited from the speedway still being there and as one of my customers is within a few hundred yards of the track they told me they wished they would have kept it a speedway track than an industrial estate which it has now become

The Hancocks were offered a few million for the land were they not? And took it, hence the closure of the speedway.

thats what the story was at the time anyway.

I think the few million is for the rent of the land but either way the new builds, macdonalds. Greggs, ford, screw-fix etc are not on the land where the speedway was,the outline of where all the track was is still there ,the bar on first bend is used as an office now, the car parks infront of the track are still there and when you go up to the main gates which are still there you wouldn’t know the track isn’t there, not a lot has changed and all the new builds are going the opposite direction to the track as you turn off the main road with ford being the closest, I was under the impression that they were going to build on the track but that doesn’t seem to be the case

I would put that with, the cheques in the post, we stand with WASPI women, etc etc, all of the hollow promises which help another agenda, personally I would love it to happen and if above NDL level would make effort to attend frequently, but the cynical side of me thinks "it ain't going to happen" and Abbey stadium will get built on before a single league meeting takes place at the new venue ?

Anyone read the Clarke Osborne article in todays Speedway Star?

Yes, all sounds great but we have seen it all before and seen it from Osbourne, I guess we will have to hope it happens because what’s the alternative? Blunsdon like Brandon is dead in the water now and if either teams are to come back it’s going to be at a new venue and for those who get triggered by me saying Brandon is gone, get real, Brandon estates will never give up that land for speedway, it will drag on and on for as long as supporters keep peeing money up the wall to oppose planning for houses,if they took a different route maybe just maybe Coventry would be back now imo

It was Rugby Council who opposed the planning application, and the appeal against the decision was refused by the Government Planning Officer.

And it means nothing, that land eventually will end up being houses no matter how long it takes Brandon estates, have people not learnt councils and government are full of crap and their words mean nothing, their words just mean the price goes up

Oxford council were very supportive of the campaign to keep Oxford Stadium from being redeveloped for housing. Their stance  together with others ultimately enabled the Cheetahs to return.
