wealdstone
Clearly a most unsatisfactory outcome. However I think due credit should be given tom Carl Johnson for going to the announcers box to explain as much as possible the position to the crowd.

I was told they didn’t have enough tyres left to complete the meeting, most of the riders were wearing a tyre edge down per race. Tyres are clearly not up to the job, we have had several instances of problems like this at Peterborough in recent years. Is the 14 you quote in brackets 7 X 2 teams or 14 each ? SPEEDY69
Nicholls had the win in ht 9 but his puncture on the 3rd bend made his exit from 4th slow and Tobi got by. He was fuming afterwards! The tyres are spinning for most of the lap at Peterborough and get too hot. Never had an issue with Mitas.

If thats correct that edge has done 2 races max would be my guess.. Tyres are at fault. Edited August 29, 2022 by Bald Bloke

Bagpuss
Sounds like a dodgy batch of tyres to me.

The track was a bit slick, nothing out of the ordinary though... i think it was more of a matter of the tyres not lasting even 1 race rather than them running out of them. If you've ever seen them piled up around the back of the NSS you'll know the kind of quality they are... Fortunately I didn't make the round trip from Leicester to Belle Vue for this one (I did!) Moranboys
Never in all my years watching what used to be a great sport have I ever heard such nonsense in all my life.meeting abandoned due to lack of tyres just about sums up the state of the sport in this country.if I had been attending that debacle today then that would have been the last time ever I would have attended any meeting. The whole season has been a complete shambles what with guests, meetings delayed and various other anomalies,is there any wonder at all that people are drifting away from the sport, myself included. The sport here doesn't give a damn about it,s supporters and now the tables are being turned.sad, sad times indeed.

But as you say declared closed means closed.
topaz325
If it’s a bad batch how many other duff tyres are out there ?
Lord Skid
So what was wrong with the tyres that the riders had on their spare bikes, surely they could have been used.
