30th August - Plymouth v Redcar

Recommended Posts

Some good racing there and a deserved Redcar win.

How much the loss of a match not counting at cut off tomorrow will be the determining factor at the end of the season can only be guessed at.

Plymouth may have won last week and finished 4th they'll never know. Got a meaningless match now v Glasgow and the rider who caused the call off might not even be fit to ride.... That's speedway I guess.

Hard to pick winners out of both semis with masters and pickering wright and Jenkins carrying injuries and Worrall not 100% and Kemp and Ablitt poor plus plymouth relying on a small number of guest options.

Date and decision of Ben Barker hearing may be crucial to them as presumably he can ride or is banned and if he's banned won't they lose guest facility as normally no guest for a banned rider

Plymouth have no chance in the playoffs with guests and what they now have at reserve. It's a huge shame as prior to the injury curse Plymouth looked the team to beat and could well have ended up in the top 2. As it is they've limped into the playoffs and I can't see us winning another match (home or away) with Edinburgh or Poole next.

Unless by some miracle Barker gets cleared and Gilkes becomes fit, I think any team will fancy their chances against this Plymouth side, 3 months ago, no-one would have.

Hope I'm wrong but I just don't see the strength there at either top or bottom end.

Congratulations Redcar they give us a right pasting tonight the only riders who can hold there heads high was Morley and the reserves who tried there hearts out won’t be to critical of our guests as they helped us out and they don’t want to get hurt and who can blame them age has caught up with Andersen yes he’s a name in speedway but there’s nothing else there. Andersen not happy with Lawson after heat 13 when a few words were exchanged when Lawson turned left on him but we were well beaten and the only positive to take is Scunthorpe are out.

We move down for more variety. And we have to ride against the same team EIGHT times. How boring!

How I feel about Edinburgh of late. Some seasons just seem to fall that way. In fairness team no going to look much like the one was at WR last time

Have to say i enjoyed!! The racing wasn't brilliant but theres something about being that close to the track that i really like and the tightness of the riders especially in those later heats makes it exciting!!

Lawson and Kerr were very good and both unhappy with Worrall in the last Heat but all Redcar riders had there moments and looked solid!

Plymouth were poor Morley aside who looked really good! Anderson and Complin were especially disappointing

So here it is,all comes down to this match, can Plymouth get scunthorpe into the playoffs by beating Redcar. It would be easy for Plymouth to put out a weak team with the guest situation but I'm confident our promotion will field as strong a team as possible and try to do the right thing by scunthorpe. Personally I,ve changed my mind somewhat of late and hope scunthorpe make the playoffs.

Oh dear. And Plymouth travel to Poole next Wednesday.

Different view to the one he had at weekend

He may have been taken out of context I guess tonight.

If plymouth beat Glasgow they would end up 4th above Edinburgh on aggregate scorevdifference both on 32 points

But for the purpose of the play off with cut off tomorrow they'll finish 6th with 29 points.

Only in speedway
