The Summer Trophy after having undergone an unannounced name change will now have a 3-legged final... at least they've told us about this one. Who would have thunk it?

Danny Ford personally announced this news, unofficial at the time, to me at the British Final after I queried the one off final with him. There is hope within the BSPL after all. Nice one Danny :t:

I'm looking forward to going to all 3 legs, c'mon the Pirates

Wonder what would have happened had it been Oxford v Edinburgh v Redcar.

One rule for some another for the majority.

More u turns than Liz Truss

I liked the idea of a one off 'Cup Final' at a neutral venue personally. More concerning though is that they can make a decision in the winter then change their minds in the summer as some see fit. Not really befitting of a professional sport.

I think its a good idea to change it, each track should make money with a large crowd, instead of getting a cut of a small gate, and more people will be able watch their team in cup final.

Not all changes are bad

The good thing is, I say with irony, that no one outside the speedway bubble will ever know so it doesn't matter as they will never read or hear about it. We may see it as a professional sport but those outside the bubble don't see it that way anyway so that's why we are where we are.

just hope they can agree dates don’t want it dragging on into September/October  get it over and done with it while there’s plenty free weeks draw balls to see who gets 1st 2nd 3rd  meeting

Surely the team with the best average 'points scored' should get first choice?!

Who gets the pleasure of drawing the balls & will it be the promoter or manager that poses?

can’t see it working  like that every team will want final leg make it simple draw balls then there’s no problems

Not sure that every team will want the last leg in a 3 leg Final.

Yes in terms of the crowd but if u end up way behind the leaders after 2 away legs then trying to keep the morale up to claw back the deficit cud be difficult.

Maybe the 2nd leg wud be best to choose for the home leg?

Neither Leicester or Glasgow got gifted a 60 point walk over against an under strength side so hardly see how that would be fair. Poole may have more of a chance by saying they had the better results and didn't rely on points difference. In any case fixtures should just be given by the the bspl and the clubs get on with it imo

Not really such a thing as a neutral track though with all the doubling up. If it stayed at Sheffield, Leicester have an advantage with 2 Sheffield riders in their team.

You are right but this must have been thought about and agreed in the first place!

Yes, in theory it sounds not a bad idea. But I would say Peterborough a better neutral (Prem) track although that would favour Glasgow lol. Although if they agreed what they have changed it to in the winter, bet there would have been a fixture backlog!
