Last week after the Challange False Dawn seemed pretty certain if Dan stays in the top 6 then the next rider to be included would be a pick from the FIM.

False dawn got it wrong. It's The SEC where this applies.

To be clear......

If Dan makes it through in the top six, Max Fricke will qualify from the Challenge.

If, say, Leon Madsen makes it through in the top six and he wins the SEC, the 2nd place in the SEC won't qualify by right. That's when the FIM nominate an extra permanent wild card.

P.S. it's dawn as in the time of day, not Dawn as in the girl's name

There's plenty of Russians still competing in other sports so they may feel it's not achieving anything if others don't do the same.

Take a look at the US Open tennis line up next week. Plenty of Russians and Belarussians in it. Meanwhile Djokovic is barred because he's not vaccinated.

Personally I hooe they are back next year. They are Polish citizens after all.

Well I think when we go through a more than likely hard time during the winter months, more pressure will be put on governments to take more retaliation against Russia and things will get worse with relationships, working and entry etc

Naturally I hope I am wrong and things get back to normal quickly. But I can’t honestly see it. Just more escalation

The issue is that Artem Laguta is a Polish citizen. If he wasn't, he would be screwed, but hard to imagine that a court would stop a Polish citizen working as a speedway rider because of where he was born.

Internationally it becomes more complicated, but if he is eligible to race he must sure be allowed to 'defend' his title. Not sure Emil would get the same invitation, but surely Laguta must get a pick.

Think it was Dugard and Loram at Coventry in 2000.

Think that's the last year we had three Brits in a semi final as well,.

Bloody hell! I was there that night!

I was too. I lived in Coventry at the time but due to a complete cock up I had booked to be in Cornwall that week for a family holiday.

I drove back to see the meeting and went back to Cornwall the next day.

Now that is nuts.

That's worse than me being on holiday in Yarmouth, and coming back to Wimbledon for the WTC qualifier halfway through!

I agree. And the fact that there are other Aussies and Brits makes them vulnerable. But they are former world champions and Tai is still a major star.

Yeah, I just wonder how long that can hold for. By my count, 12 riders have won a GP since Tai last did, and 13 since Doyle did. I know they have had podiums in that time, but their performances have been no better than mid pack for quite a few years now. I like them both and I’d like to see them in the GP and doing well, but with Fricke and Bewley with two wins each, and both Australia and GB doing well in SoN without Doyle or Tai on track, it does feel like they’re getting left behind, unless they can crack the top six by season end.

they have been saying you could throw a blanket over them for 30 years now.

Reminds me of when the BBC had MotoGP rights. Charlie Cox would mention the bike tyres had “a contact patch the size of a credit card” every race. If only it wasn’t on the BBC, he could’ve got someone to sponsor him.

Emil is the current world number 3, has excellent record in the GPs and is also a Polish Citizen so I think he would also get a wildcard.

A week ago, I made the observation that Lambert could qualify on merit for next year's series, only being 8 points off 6th. Now, he is just 2 points out, and another performance or two like yesterday, and he's in!

Great result by Dan Bewley and Rob Lambert with two Brits in the top three of the GP.

Not such a good result from the British Speedway site, who couldn't even be bothered to put the result on the site last night, let alone a short report. It shows how disinterested the BSPL are in the World Championship and British Riders riding in it.

I bet Eurosport and Discovery are really pleased with the BSPL attitude to spreading the word in their quest to take speedway wider horizons.

Good luck to all the Brits racing in Poland, you are on your own, until of course it suits BSPL!!
