brewer
Why are only attached riders allowed to guest ride. Why can’t unattached riders who are sat at home with equipment ready to go in the hope of gaining a team spot somewhere be allowed to guest. they would want to do the best they can to put themselves in the shop window. thoughts.

A fair question. I imagine Kyle Newman would welcome such opportunities. Last season left teamless when Eastbourne folded, and this dumped by Oxford. Think you would want to restrict it to riders with fairly recently established GSAs to prevent manipulation.

Spot on... I would also have only let those riders not contracted overseas to double up, meaning those who did have contracts elsewhere could be available to stand in for teams in the league that they didn't race in over here... But only for one team in that league all season, not every team on an adhoc basis... eg Sam Masters could ride for Wolves and stand in as a "guest" for a Div 2 team when needed/average allowed, but then couldn't ride for any other Div 2 team that season... Running a five man team in Div 1 would also create spare riders to be available from Div 2 to replace them without the need to share around riders from the same league... (Which currently destroys any hope the sport can ever be taken seriously)... Edited July 29, 2022 by mikebv
HGould
Didn't the NDL do that last year, reduce Guest Bookings to a couple of meetings and then have a list of unattached riders. I'd go a stage further and a form of Rider Control. (A) List all riders above 8 points (B) List all riders 6 to 7.99 (C) List all riders 4 to 5.99 (D) List all under 4 Work out a sensible Points Limit once you have built the Groups and you can have 1 rider from List A , max 2 from List B , max 3 from List C etc The availability of UK based Riders and of ability zones A B C D would dictate limit Unattached Riders would go on Guest Pool - ideally you'd not have any in LIST A but may have some overseas / overseas based riders who could take occasional Bookings to build some margin of availability.... Got to stop this ridiculous situation of 2-3 Clubs having 3 Heat Leaders over 8 points and 3-4 Clubs having none!

Thats what the points limit is for.
