Edinburgh vs Poole 8/7/22

Recommended Posts

Far from a classic , 14 heats of follow the leader until we got a proper race in heat 15 . Wasnt unhappy that Poole left pointless , consolidates my team's place in the top 2

In other words you just want to laugh at me!

One word aarrrrrgggggghhhhhh !!

Gutted! Especially after gating on a 5-1 in H15 and didn't team ride great. But Sam probably would have got past anyway tbh.

First meeting I've ever seen at Edinburgh. Is it normally really hard to pass at? Cos apart from H15, you could fill your programme out after first two bends.

Well done Edinburgh. No chance we'll get anything at Berwick with that Dane at reserve. So top 2 pretty much out of the question now :(

Not at all!

credit where credits due though young Ablitt gave it a better go this evening.

Well I think he only beat Sergeant but it was a better performance than usual.

1) in theory it's Ablitt's job to beat the opposition number 7, so achieved that

2) for a sub 2.00 rider to beat a 3.9 reserve away from home 3 times is VERY GOOD

Thoroughly enjoyable night at Armadale just got back to me b & b.

Had a great chat with Danny Ford & Nathan Ablitt in the pits before the meeting. Also met up with Monarch Kieran who came down to Poole & met Nigel & the other Pirates on bend 3. Stood with a Workington fan who I'd met at Belle Vue on Monday.

We deserved a point just like the Monarchs did at Wimborne Road but why Worrall & King rode the way they did in heat 15 was beyond me after gating on a 5-1.

Fantastic effort by Nathan tonight to get amongst the points. Well done lad.

Don't understand Zach, thought a smaller technical track wud be to his liking but nil points.

Fair play to the Monarchs u did a job on us, well done.

Not going to come away with anything tonight, which is a shame as we have been the better team except when up against Pickering and Masters on their own track.

Quote of the season could only come from a Poole fan, we were the better team :rofl:one rider scoring 0 and a heat leader only getting 5. Really!!!

Indeed, can't claim to be a "better team" except for 2 riders. As a team is all 7 riders.

Masters and Pickering can make any riders look silly round Armadale.

It does look like Sam Masters and Josh Pickering had a night to remember and that made heats 13 and 15 very difficult for Poole. But that doesn't explain heat 14?

Can't understand deserved a point. Don't recall any EFs, Kemp fell off in a 3-3 and re-run was still a 3-3. If want to win at Edinburgh have to have it done by heat 12, if you don't you'll lose. Was no bad luck involved as such result was fair

I think it is a case of being level or within 2 points for 80% of the meeting. So understand when people say that. Bad luck with Zach's steel shoe coming off in H14?

From my view looked like hook and Paco had already passed either side before shoe came off? Never saw a replay but that was my initial feeling.

What a dreadful meeting. Thankfully, I was in hospitality, so had beer for company.

Magnus Magnusson entered the stadium after heat 14 and announced:

Edinburgh Monarchs. You've scored 45 pts and no passes.

Poole Pirates. You've scored 39 pts and no passes.

At least heat 15 gave the paying punter some entertainment.

For the Monarchs, Masters was decent, Pickering likewise, Hook excellent, Thomson fine until heat 12, Castagna dreadful until heat 14, Sarjeant had a meeting of two halves and Fredriksen should've stayed at home.

For the Champions, the former Worrallloadofrubbish, Daniel King, Ben Cook and young Ablitt gained pass marks. unKempt did his job by winning heat 8. The other two were woeful.

I believe that's our first victory over Poole since 1995 at Powderhall, when Kenny McKinna was part of a heat 16 5-1 over Lars Gunnestad (a proper Norwegian rider), securing a 56-40 demolition and a bonus point to boot. Them were the days!

Roll on Friday...

Wasn’t a great watch, think the dry warm weather we’ve had all week didn’t help made the track slick and difficult to pass. Yes I know imagine complaining about it being dry and sunny.

Good win in the end masters and Pickering doing the business and paco eventually turning up in heat 14. Special mention to young hooky getting better by the week.

It’s noticeable that that Weather get the blame for ALL track preparations nowadays.
