Today was exceptional in terms of entertainment. Just about every race had passing and when it comes to speedway you cannot ask for more than what you were given today.

However,

Glasgow track staff really need to get control of the dust. I was recently at Oxford and it was 26 degrees and there was next to nothing coming up until heat 15. Today they watered the track before the kids race and once that was finished it had already dried back up for the riders coming out.

It obviously must be difficult to get it right but that was a dust bowl from heats 1-15 today. Maybe need to invest in a new sprinkler or fans could bring water pistols and spray from the stands.

All that aside, that today felt like the starter before the main event GP qualifier next month which should be brilliant. :D

Got to say, it was very unusual for the Glasgow track to be that dusty. When our usual race day was a Sunday afternoon, although difficult, they seemed to capture it fairly well.

Ah, OK. I just didn’t see him on the tractors or walking on the green at any point, so it just made me wonder if race day prep had been a bit different to normal. But I should reiterate, the track produced great racing, and they prepare the track fantastically week in, week out. I think it was just a combination of being relatively dry this week, sunny all day, hottest day of the year in Glasgow, and the 3pm start.

The only other time this year when it’s been quite dusty was during the British Youth Championship, which was a similar day and a 3pm start again. That also got incredibly dusty with the faster bikes, especially at the end, but that meeting also had 30 heats to be fair.

Mullard rant. Probably undeserved but oh well.

lleft home this morning and as I got to Chorley I had a phone call advising me of the line up changes.   A quick turn around and back home I went. £44 lost (2 tickets) but saving me £100 in petrol.

I knew Dan probably wouldn’t ride but with them having a rider on stand by I thought it’s worth the risk.

but howarth with covid. I thought we do t have to isolate now. So no reason to not ride. Personally I think it’s an excuse but who knows.

they announced tai but he’s apparently gone on holiday. Excuse me you have 6 months off for your holidays. Not mid season.

just seems a pointless meeting now. That won’t help team GB at all as only lambert and Brennan are in the meeting.

hope it’s a good one for the fans. But for this fan, over and out.

Worth possibly about £200 for everything all in.  Probably not. Not for me anyway.

as it happens it was a very very good meeting. I made a big mistake.

Tai is coming to the end of a very successful career, I dont blame him for picking and choosing what he wants to do now.

Team GB need to look past him and to the future.  To me a test match is a great opportunity to bring some new riders into the team as a trial before SON, to test options in case of any injury to Lambert or Bewley.  Shame Howarth is ill, would have been great to see him racing today.

Where do you get that nugget of nonsense from?  Tai said at the start of the GP season he wants to have 6 world titles before he retires.  That's probably unrealistic, however it indicates he'll be racing for a fair few years yet.  He's only 31 years old.  Remind me again how old Hancock was at his retirement?  There are countless 'top'riders' in their 40's riding today in the top leagues in Poland and Sweden etc.

Tai is still the best we have, both Lambert and Bewley are coming on very nicely but Tai is still Team GB's No 1 and will no doubt lead us in the SON this year and for the foreseeable.

And he did. The same old colours that he always flies when riding for his country. And on a track that he ought to know like the back of his hand. A complete waste of water and rations, that man.

Not so sure about Tai in his present form, very poor in Polish League this season and it’s not happening for him in GP.Very Doubtful that he will be World Champ again.(only my opinion).Personally think Lambert and Bewley have been more consistent than him this season.

But he's been flying there lately, he pulled out of Lynn tonight ill, perhaps he was poorly on Saturday too?  He wasn't attacking the track like I have seen him do ....

I don't disagree, however all riders have bad spells and Tai is no different to any other rider.  Tai is currently 6th in the GP standings (Lambert 9th & Bewley 11th) so that alone suggests he's still the best of the Brits.

Fair enough, but there is only 6pts difference between Tai and Bewley,I have not checked but would suggest Lambert and Bewley have higher League averages than Tai.On what I have watched in Poland think there is very little in it. Tai needs to come out of his bad spell soon.

Agreed, but don't write Tai off just yet :t:

Not every rider goes round shooting his mouth off that no one can beat him when he's at his best though, occasionally you have to back those words up with actions. Don't get me wrong I'm a big Tai fan (although he lets himself down sometimes) and all he HAS done. Still hope he's got a few competitive years left in him yet
