crescent girl
Regretfully, this meeting is OFF. Heavy rain, and a dismal forecast -- new date to be announced.
screm
According to this the forecast isn't to bad for today, currently cloudy but dry. https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2655819 We have had a number of very heavy showers and periods of rain throughout the last week so I am not entirely surprised by this call off, good at least the club took the decision early enough to stop everyone from travelling. crescent girl
Trouble being, as I see it, with both being Saturday tracks (and Leicester using the Thompsons in both their teams) Berwick have to find a Saturday the Lions/Cubs aren't racing, or go "off night" as their seniority for Saturdays is wiped out by the postponement. Fortunately, being a KO Cup semi-final, it could be held over a while and the Final arranged (with Fen Tigers' blessing) later on in the year. screm
I would be surprised if Berwick chose to ride this meeting as part of double header. If they face a deficit after todays first leg they would possibly need all fifteen to make them back, Berwick have proven they can run thirty heats in a night but there is no guarantees. screm
Berwick have the biggest of big jobs now to pull this back. Leicester Lion Cubs = 631. Dan Thompson - 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 = 18 FULL MAX2. Mickie Simpson - 1, 1, 1, 1 = 43. Connor Coles R/R - (DT - 3, JT - 3, MP - 1', TS - 3 = 10+1)4. Tom Spencer - 1, 1, 2, 3, 3 = 105. Joe Thompson - 3, 3, 3, 3, 2', 2' = 16+2 PAID MAX6. Vinnie Foord - 1, Tx, 0, 2' = 3+17. Max Perry - 3, 2', 1, 3, 1', 2' = 12+38. Sam Woods - DNRBerwick Bullets = 271. Kyle Bickley - 2, 2, 2, 1, 1 = 82. Mason Watson - 0, 0, 0, 1' = 1+13. Ace Pijper - 0, 2, 0, 1 = 34. Greg Blair - 2, R, 2, 0 = 45. Luke Crang - 1, 2, 3, 0, 0 = 66. Kieran Douglas - 2 = 2 - WITHDRAWN7. Sings4Speedway
Can see Berwick not contesting the 2nd half of this tie and allowing Leicester through, probably the most sensible option for multiple reasons.

They won’t need 30 heats. The semi will be over by heat 8

Great attitude. To take it a step further, Leicester won at Mildenhall in the league a couple of weeks ago. Using your logic, is there any point Mildenhall turning up for the final? Or just give the trophy to Leicester now? Wouldn't that be the most sensible option? 1

As a standalone meeting its likely to be poorly supported so will cost Berwick money, as a double header its reduced admission so potental monetary loss again? Leicester will obviously incur further costs sending riders to compete in a meeting that is almost won. Further impact of available dates for the cup final to actually happen could come into play (with Leicester Lions and Cubs likely to feature in the play offs) . Yes it is entirely possibly for the Bullets to overcome the 36 point deficit at home but is it entirely worth it?
