Connor Coles the Lion Cub looking to progress into the senior team who will already be there to ride in the 2nd half of a double header to save costs?

I'm a fan of Connor and consider him a prospect for the future. But tonight is a key fixture. Despite Leicester's recent form, they'd be mad to underestimate the Gladiators. Especially as they field Hans Andersen and guest, Scott Nicholls, both of who know their way around the Leicester track.
There are no certainties in this game, but Jason has to be good choice.

Jason will score nowt now and Connor will top score for the Cubs. :icon_smile_clown:

Hmm... this year is Connor's 10th in the sport, so is probably due a testimonial, he's 28! I don't want to do the lad down but i don't think he's going to "make it". For me, Connor and riders like him should not be riding in NDL teams but should be riding in the main body of CL teams as a good club journeyman, instead CL teams prefer to use PL riders. Connor is not one for the future... he's one for now.

Fair point.
Just glad I'm not a TM, eh?

In case it's escaped your notice, Connor Coles will not be riding for the Lions after all tonight and Jason Edwards has been brought in instead.

I think that was exactly what the discussion was about

Just makes you wonder what the point of a Cubs team is? That we're being asked to support tonight. What is the point of the Cubs team?

Got nothing against Connor Coles nor Jason Edwards but isn't this another case of a completely bent sport and completely bent management committee.

Coles was booked and named in a 1 to 7. He is also booked in his actual NDL 1 to 7 for the second match.

If he's injured or ill and not available for either then fair play, book the best available rider.

If Leicester have suddenly decided Coles is good enough for NDL who after all are going to thrash a mainly MSDL Plymouth Team, but not good enough for their CL team, although he seems to be good enough Scunthorpe then frankly it sucks.

Be interesting to know which on duty Management Committee member approved the late change.

The sport deserves independent oversight, not a tawdry cartel.

At Scunny last night Conor blew an engine and told our scorpions tv commentator about "thats all he needed with a double header coming up," with him accepting a guest role he is within his rights to change his mind, No conspiracies, i quess the 2 discussed the situation and came up with Edwards and Conor stay for the cubs

There are at least 2 riders from each NDL Teams that should no be riding in that League and be riding in Championship only.IMOu

1st match took 2 hours on the bob. 40 mins track prep for the 2nd match and we're underway at 21:10... I've got to be out of the supermarket car park by 22:15, not a chance I'll see the end of this.

They even gave a warning about the supermarket car park over the pa... oh the irony.

Not sure if there's a 22:00 curfew anyway.

Well... i gave it until heat 7 then had to go home due to tractor sickness.

Much as I suspected, NDL is a terrible spectacle around BP and what the Thompson twins are still doing wasting their time in that league for I'll never know.

Don't get me wrong, if that's your thing fair enough and I'm sure the kids are putting great effort in,  but it needs to be run in its own right.

Why we're being asked to subsidise it by having it forced on us as part of the senior team ticket I also don't know as when they've had the opportunity to promote from the cubs they've neglected to do so both times.

Senior match was pretty good though, close scores, good racing but the track was a little too dusty. (Very dusty)

I am sorry for the dust, we had been watering from this morning, but due to the strong wind it was drying as fast as we could get it on the track, we pretty much ran out of water, if you noticed I was even trying to get water out of 2 of the drains between meetings.

Apologies!!

Yes, did see that, fortunately i was stood away from the dust, so wasn't too bad for me, you probably got more of it in the pits B).

Great match tonight, Plymouth pushed the Lions all the way and to be honest, nobody would have begrudged them of the point they narrowly missed out on. Plymouth are easily play off semi finalists in my opinion but the Kennett guest facility that is still in place continues to make the Gladiators stronger than they would otherwise be. I can’t remember Kennett ever having a decent meeting at Leicester and he would never have scored what Nicholls did tonight. Rider averages are only based on league matches and Kennett hasn’t ridden in one this season! (Yes I know, it’s rolling averages that count). Can’t blame their management for playing the system, but there surely has to be a timeframe for milking a facility for a riders absence whose average is in decline. Is he actually even injured or did he just have a one meeting agreement? Hopefully not the latter as that would make the sport look (even more, if that’s possible) amateurish.

Curfew is 22:30, and it's a hard curfew. So that's bikes off the track & PA turned off. In reality it means riders will not be sent out for a heat after 22:27.
