if scunthorpe can beat glasgow so can we!!!!!! :t: more worried about plymouth than glasgow though

That's what I mean. They can come against Scunthorpe if C4G thinks they might be a bit of a jinx! Glasgow one not so clear cut. Plymouth one will be interesting as we both have good top 5. Depends what Alfie, Ben and Harry do for them I think. The no7's are best friends, so lots of friendly rivalry there! I'm assuming Harry is at 7 and Ben at 6?!

My father and I came down to this meeting and we brought with us a speedway 'newbie' who expected us to win after we had talked our beloved Pirates up so much.  After the meeting he said "maybe next time, bring me along when you're riding against a bottom of the table team."

Anyways, we blame him for the loss....the newbie jinx and all that

Hope Peter kay doesn't read this, he'll be pinching it for his stand up.

Just had a quick scroll through this thread and noticed that there's no comment from Poole's No.1 loyal fan (Turnip) whom previously announced that he supports Poole because they win trophies ? :D

I wonder if he'll be seen at Beaumont Park on a Saturday evening from now on ....:D

We are assuming he has been banned, that is why the original thread disappeared!

So why on earth has “Turnip” been banned? His humour might be a bit strange but he was never rude or aggressive. People complained to mods as they didn’t like his jokes?

what a joke turnip a lot better than some numptys we get

I don't suppose this will be any consolation to Poole fans but I think the last time a Leicester team won at Poole was on 3rd October 1973 when they won 40.38. Ray Wilson top scored with 14.

Wow! And Poole's guest, the great Peter Collins couldn't save the day.

Nope! ;)

Don't worry Lisa. By my reckoning, if the next victory is as long away as the last one, you don't need to start worrying until Wednesday 11th February 2071

This got me puzzled because I thought my memory was playing tricks, but I was certain I was there in the 80's when Lions beat Poole. On holiday at the time in what was the old Leicester holiday fortnight. So I checked & the memory wasn't playing tricks 7th July 1982, Poole 38 Leicester 40. Wasn't a last heat decider though Poole got  a 5-1 in heat 13 to narrow the scoreline.

Neil Collins top -scored with 11 , brother Les 10, Lions were using R/R for Colin Cook & lost Steve Regeling after 2 races, so effectively won with 5 riders.

Thanks Steve. Alan Jones told me it was in the early 70s so I looked it up in his book.

Oh that's alright then. We've only got to wait till Wednesday 10th May 2062 for the next victory over Poole away.
