FishersGate
Right ok, I'm a young fan only been going speedway for just over 10 years with a large gap in between. One thing I've always heard from pretty much every fan I've met is the disliking for Poole. Now don't get me wrong I think alot of is jealousy but I've heard some very weird stories of why alot of fans take a disliking to them. When I've been to Leicester the atmosphere seems to turn up a notch or two cause Poole are in town. Can anyone give me a reason or reasons why they are not every ones seconds team? LisaColette
I don't think we are hated as much in the Champ like we were in the Prem. Where a lot of 'loopholes' were found in the rules People don't like that! Tbh though 'the hate' is dated back to early 2000's and I can't remember all the reasons! Though there was 'the winter of discontent' which was to do with Coventry I think.

Give it time, you've only been here 10 minutes!!!,,, not sure if the 'Pirates' nickname is up there with with all the political carry-on these days,,, maybe change it to the 'Poole Piskies'?
Bagpuss
Mr Ford was a rule bender back in the day and always seemed to be at the centre of controversy but since he's cleared off, the bumpy track has finally got sorted and Poole have moved to the Championship I think feelings have softened. I don't think 'everybody' hated them anyway or do now, but they are a team people like to beat. And of course they have the best wind up merchant on the forum in their ranks 1

mikebv
Jealousy... Success brings a lot of that from opposition fans and promoters... Every sport needs a "Manchester United" though as it means as many loath them that love them.. So it's good for business having a "pantomime villian"... And I always believe that if you cant beat another team then dont moan about them.. Instead, find a way to beat them at their own game... When Poole were at the NSS and Kirky Lane, I would go, with it sometimes being my only visit of the season.. Good for Speedways brand are Poole, let's hope they can still be around for a good few seasons yet...
Mike0310
I want to batter them every time bit strong I no because there the team we should all strive to be like, apart from when we ride against them I admire there model of team building and the way there run,it was brilliant when we smashed them the other week because after there first heat 5-1 for them rest of the night they looked in total shock (fans that is ) and middlo but they’ve done it to us numerous times so it was wonderful to give them a bit of what they give everyone else.im so glad there in our league though as it’s great to have a bit of local rivalry. I to hope there around for many years to come. Edited May 30, 2022 by Mike0310

Its not a serious competition by any stretch in the UK so whats to be jealous of?
JanAndersen
Arrogance and taking themselves a bit too seriously mainly. Championship fans disliking them started before they won anything at this level so don't see how it can be jealousy. The sooner they're back up with the 'big boys' the better. Granted it is a very small pond, but some still take it seriously enough (and collude with promoters that it means something), to bother... For some I think, given the comments now and again on here, Poole seened to have ruined their life...

Simply put: Poole is run 100% for the benefit of Poole (management + supporters) this has been done very successfully by Matt Ford who is very good doing what he does. However Poole's success is to the detriment of the rest of the league not least their balance sheets!
