He got personal, he said councillors were in it for themselves. I was a Councillor. Therefore he is implying I was in it for myself. So who's getting personal? 25yearfan
The only options I can see for the Edinburgh Monarchs are - Buy Armadale Stadium? Trackshare with Glasgow or Berwick? - The latters extremely unlikely because of strict planning restrictions and the stadium being also used for football. Moving to Workingtons too far, remember Glasgows disastrous spell in the Cumbrian Town in 1987? Would the Cowdenbeath stock car promotion allow their track to be covered in shale and the Monarchs move in? - Its only 22 miles from Edinburgh so a similar distance that Armadale is from the Scottish capital. The long serving Edinburgh promotion has proved to operate one of the best run speedways in Great Britain (not my opinion but fact when you look at what they've achieved since the mid 1980's!) so I have more faith in them coming up with a positive solution than I would with most other promotions. - Good luck! Realistically the only option for the club to run next season would be asking the owners of Armadale to allow us to run there for 2023 imo. Alex, John and Gordon will explore absolutely every possibility to get the Monarchs to the tapes next season. If anyone can find a solution, it’s our promotion.

The Cowdenbeath track is a rather four cornered circuit and not at all a good shape for speedway but a few miles up the road is Lochgelly and that would make a lovely track but I very much doubt that the stock car promotion would want shale anywhere near their track so very unlikely to be much help. Speedway failed at Cowdenbeath in the days when the sport was more popular, don’t think it would survive in Fife these days.
Racin Jason 72
What happened to the Linlithgow track ? I don’t know how close that is to Armadale or even whether it could be resurrected even.
Joseq7
Totally left field but.......... Corbiewood just outside Stirling? I know it's been nibbled at in the past. Believe that last nibble was a demo event in 2002, to check noise levels.....? Edited September 18, 2022 by Joseq7
Justsaying
Although some of the earlier comments may have caused offence to some I think most people are just frustrated that another track is about to close. John Campbell was clear on Friday. He stated publicly that Edinburgh speedway has no options that will allow the Monarchs to compete in 2023 and further stated Monarchs will be out of the sport for a period of time. Negative or positive comments thank you all for caring about the Monarchs. Just to balance the situation as well thank you to all the councilors who did give us their support. You did your best!
Diablo
Strong possibility that’s the end of the monarchs now. They had a very good inning’s & ran a shrewd operation over the years on sometimes a wafer thin budget & delivered silverware to the fans. The derbies with Glasgow over the years have been fantastic & they will be a massive loss to not just Glasgow speedway but British speedway. It's currently fenced off and half demolished! There building a major housing development there!

I lived in Stirlingshire and Clackmannanshire from 1990-2007 and was a regular at Armadale until I saw the light

lucifer sam
What's the chances of using Armadale for one last season in 2023, while a new home is located? I hope Edinburgh can survive, even if it's by renting out Ashfield on Saturday nights for a year.
