No doubt about it Mildenhall are stronger with Shanes in the team & it will be a tough match but I think Leicester will just have too much for the Tigers Cubs 50-40 Tigers is my prediction. Maybe limit the use of RR to twice a season per side to cover for last minute emergencies etc but otherwise unattached guests. In fairness until the actual rules are changed it will remain. I would think RR still makes Mildenhall weaker. Home track specialists to take this but Shanes and Warren could mix it up a bit.

I thought Warren looked quite decent for Kent at Leicester last season.

Apologies to Josh put the mockers on him it appears. Dominant home side, disappointing debut for Shanes who shows that his gating still really isn't up to any decent level. Hope the injuries aren't too serious.
Islander15
Surprising that Shanes couldn’t touch the Thompson twins. It really shows how dominant they are at home at this level.
lucifer sam
Meeting decided when Ward twice knocked off Warren in Heat 2 - the second time, causing an injury that forced Warren to withdraw from the meeting. Not sure how it can be an unsatisfactory start when one rider loses control coming out of the second bend and causes the other two to fall. Had the ref made the correct decision there, then Ward wouldn't have been in a position to again upend Warren in the second re-run of the race. Mildenhall very unlucky tonight. Decent enough meeting - quite enjoyed it as a neutral, even with the bizarre refereeing.

Where did you watch the racing from because that crash took place just in front of me & there was no contact between Ward & Warren . It was a pure racing incident where Warren & Foord collided & all 3 was a fair call. Could equally say if Warren had not locked up infront of Ward in the re-run they wouldn’t have had the 2nd crash. These guys are in experienced & need the track time so they will make mistakes .

Ward clearly lifted out of the second bend, badly lost control, and caused Warren and Foord to fall. He was the sole cause of the stoppage - yet it was somehow called as "an unsatisfactory start". As I said I was there as a neutral, but felt for Mildenhall, when the incident that really cost them tonight (the withdrawal of Warren) was caused by a rider who shouldn't even been in the race at that point. Very perplexed spectators on the terraces. Edited May 21, 2022 by lucifer sam
Lenny Lion
I was on the backstraight exactly where the riders collided. Yes Ward lifted but at no point hit Warren or cut across his path so I don’t see how Ward lifting & Warren crashing are in anyway connected. On the raised first bend viewing, it was noticeable that Ward drifted wide after lifting, and caused the other two to clash. The report on the Leicester website confirms that it was: "an ugly collision involving the three remaining riders on the second bend, resulting in Josh Warren and the Cubs’ Vinnie Foord going heavily into the fence." I was struggling to see how Ward had not been excluded for it, along with everyone else around me, and then Ward (who IMO should not still have been in the race) tried a daft last bend lunge up the inside of Warren in the second re-run and put Warren out of the rest of the meeting. Of course, these are young lads and nothing was on purpose, but it was very hard not to feel sympathy for Mildenhall, who lost because a key rider (their better reserve) was taken out of the meeting by a Leicester rider, who shouldn't have even been in the race at that point! Just shows how difficult the refs job is in real time I suppose, I've slated them before as we see what we want to see to a point.

Rules dropped after a year...unheard of! Sadly the unattached route is slightly flawed (especially when unattached riders get an average after 4 meetings). Personally id rather see RR saved for emegencies and either guests (-x% of missing averaged rider) or use unattached but be able to re-order the side and promote a reserve to the 1-5 for the meeting .... Obviously they needed a guest at number 1 to cover Gilkes’ scoring but they had no facility to cover Atkins so needed an unattached 3.00 man.
