The story of the 1st GP ?

Recommended Posts

Nicki Pedersen gets 10/10 for artistic impression for his spitting and nose blowing, using one finger on each nostril. Very clever as there must be an art to doing this and presumably he has to make sure the wind is blowing in the right direction.

I think we think alike Gem :)

Nicki's nasal activities did not go unnoticed,

neither did his wiping the sweat of his armpits and immediately using the same object over his face and head  yuk.

Come on "LADIES".

Is this the worst thing NP did at the GP in Stockholm ?

If you cannot find anything negative "on the track" then go for it in the pit. Is this the strategy then ? ;)

What about football-players, doing the same on the field during the match ?

The only thing about NP's performance yesterday is his use of "you know" all the times.

I think you should put the focus on the ref., if there was any, instead.

Here here Garf. My thoughts exactly. I suppose if it had of been Mark Loram or Scott Nicholls empyting the contents of their nasal cavity in front of the camera this would have been deemed OK  Oh sorry forgot, Scott didn't ride last night did he

Well done Mr Adams on taking the win, and also to Jesper B on his achievement :approve::approve:

No!

It would have still been disgusting!

The fact that it was Nicki is just pure coincidence! :D

Well Done to Leigh, Jason and Jesper B too!!!

Was an ok meeting! Some races were a lil bit procesional(sp??) but in general it was alright!

The ref needs to sort himself out! I always thought that Tony Steele was a decent ref but he had a 'mare last night!(esp the Kaj exclusion  )

well SullyRox... you better rewind that tape and watch the GP again to when the camera is on Sullivan in the pits.

seem to remember him sitting in the pits, rolling a stringy one, and letting fly vomit-smiley-005.gif

basically what i'm saying is... if the camera was on EVERY rider in the pits, you would see EVERY rider do exactly the same

i.e Bjarne Pedersen after heat 6

Sullivan after heat 7

etc etc etc

also just before heat 9 Tony Rickardsson was spotted limbering up in the pits... how disgusting of a professional sportsman

I don't watch football so it doesn't bother me what they do, but I do watch Speedway and I don't particularly want to see our World Champion acting like some down and out tramp. Sorry but I can't imagine Greg Hancock or Mark Loram for instance doing this.

No wonder Nicki has got loads of spots on his face. :D It's not a one off thing as last year he used a dirty cloth to blow his nose and then immediately wiped the sweat off his face and head with the same cloth.

basically what i'm saying is... if the camera was on EVERY rider in the pits, you would see EVERY rider do exactly the same.

My god! No wonder I always keep away from the pits when at Speedway meetings so I can keep my rose tinted glasses on.

Men ey?! Who'd have 'em.

Good GP.Good racing.Good track.Crap ref. I found a couple of his decisions mind boggling, the Crump one when he fell on his own at the back and should have been excluded and the second Rickardsson one [ semi final ] The one with Hancock was a bit naughty but could be called as first bend bunching so fair enough. However the one with Gollob was pathetic. It was almost on the back straight for god's sake and Rickardsson SHOULD have been excluded.I've watched it several times and each time i see it i'm more convinced.Gollob just had his front wheel taken away.Tony Steele deffinately bottled it.I had a theory and i'm glad someone helped clear it up earlier.I thought some time in the past Steele had wrong done Rickardsson somewhere and i was right.I think he probably let this cloud his judgement. This guy gets far too many GP's.Is he the only ref [ capable ????? ] of taking a GP. Come on.He's getting too familiar and it's a bad thing him doing so many GP's.He went down massively in my estimation tonight. As for the coments of Louis and Ermolenko they don't sway me.They only have an opinion like the rest of us and these two guys are so stuck on that fence they must have very sore bottoms [ nearly said something else but it's a family forum ] One day one of them may have a slightly controversial opinion but i wouldn't bank on it.Louis especially makes me cringe when he tries to wriggle out of something as shocking as rooting for a team or rider [ " Er no i er didn't say i wanted them to win " - " Well you did off air Chris " ! ].So to sum it up good meeting ,good racing, quite a few shocks, tapes should have been sorted out earlier, Ref bottled it. And before anyone from Poole accuses me of being a Rickardsson hater.Wrong.I shout for him and the British riders in each GP.[ Hancock too sometimes if he gets to the final ] I want to see him win the title again this year and go on and beat Maugers record. So you see i am not biased, just an honest opinion which we are all entitled to.

Come on all of you fastidious ladies/girls.

Just think of what you can't see happening on the telly. What about the farting?

What is the problem, NP and all the others are probably having a shower before kissing their misses.

And what about the celebrations after the match, where they do put a lot of champagne all over themselves ?

Isn't that disgusting, or is it just an acceptable part of the game ?

IMHO I find you all to sensitive. It is a tough sport and you can't expect them to use a handkerchief during the match.

With all the cameras on the riders in the pit, you will see things like that all the time.

You beat me to it garf (git). Face it girls, speedway riders don't keep a hanky up their sleeves, they keep oily rags in their toolboxes. Anyway, a bit of snot & sweat never hurt anyone, it's speedway not morris dancing.

Still never ceases to amaze me that when Nicki doesn't make a final its never his fault, its someone elses.  I always think its bad mental attitude when you can't just say you missed the gate, or your set-up just didn't work.  What was he on about with Gollob's bike?  Gollob would have still beat him anyway as he made a really bad gate!?

Just thinking the same thing. It would be good to see Pedersen in a post-match interview where he doesn't blame something / someone else for his failures. Last night, it was the ref for allowing Gollob to ride without a mudguard  . If he admits that he is simply beaten fair & square from time to time, I'm sure that he would find that he is criticised less by the public.

Actually, the following are taken from the speedway regulations (2000 edition but I assume they still apply):

Section 11.39: Mudguards must project laterally beyond the tyre on each side.

Section 11.40: A front mudguard must extend at least 5degrees ahead of a vertical line running through the centre of the front wheel axle & for an "upright" engine overlap the top edge of the engine guard by at least 5 degrees. A rear mudguard must extend at least 5 degrees behind a vertical line running through the centre of the rear axle.

Section 11.40.1: Both front & rear mudguards must not have sharp edges. They must be made of material that will not cause injuries when deformed. etc.

So Nikki has every right to complain if the regulations are not adhered to.

Also, whilst I have always thought that Tony Steele is the best ref around today, he did, in my opinion make more than one wrong decision last night, & Tony Millard, for all the stick he receives (unfairly in my opinion), was the only one with the balls to say the ref bottled out. Well done Arfur. B)

The mudguard in Gollob's bike broke because of the crash caused by T.Rick. After that fall Gollob didn't have much time and that's why they didn't put a new mudguard. In the re-run of the semi-final he rode on a same bike WITH the mudguard, but that broken one.

If there are rugulations that there must be a mudguard, give a rider & his team a little bit of time to repair a bike after a crash...

Tony Steele, is suppose to be the top speedway referee, but he bottled it with Rickardson, the guy should have been excluded twice, he clearly took out both riders in both racer as did Gollob with Jensen.

Gollob took out Jensen??? lol

You must be blind if you think so. I've watched that situation a few times and there was absolutely NO contact between TG and JJ.

Great GP. I think the problem with the tapes helped make it even better, it wasn't first out the gate who won all the time.

Congrats. to Leigh. I knew he would win :approve:

Thought I was having a bad hair day, did anyone see Mark's hair  ? Wouldn't see Beckham like that, he would be off getting his hair done by his expensive hairdresser after each heat.

Rickardsson was lucky. There is no way he should have been in that Final.

Why? Because I remember him excluding Kryszaniek (...)

Kryszaniek? lol

Krzyzaniak :D but I must say that's a hard surname to write if don't speak Polish and only heard it.

No wonder we cant get used to polish names they are always changing :o Seen on the polish videotext,e.g Jasona Crumpa :o:D;)

ref bottled decisions in this one think Crump and Richardsson should have been exclude in early races (Tony x2 and Crump x1)

Steele made it a farce

What do you expect .

Every time Rickardsson didnt make the start he just rode into one of the other riders for all 4 back

Do you think Pedersen or anyone else would have got away with it ........NO

Actually, the following are taken from the speedway regulations (2000 edition but I assume they still apply):

2004 edition,

FIM Track racing Technical rules.

01.43.01 Mudguards must project laterally beyond the tyre on each side.

01.43.03 For Speedway and Long Track, a front mudguard must extend at least 5° ahead of a vertical line running through the centre of the front wheel axle and at least 5° under the top edge of the mud shield. A rear mudguard must extend at least 5° behind a vertical line running through the centre of the rear wheel axle.

So basically, the same rules but different numbers. Nicki has a right to complain but then didn't Nicki win a void GP last year (the re-aranged GP one?!). Rules and speedway eh? They're just completly ignored at all levels!
