Stars v Panthers Thurs 21/04/2022

Recommended Posts

Just got home from the meeting and a great result for the stars, but... the first 10 heats were dire gate and go affairs, but the meeting really came alive at the end with some great racing. Why oh why can't the track be prepared for the start of the meeting  like it was at the end tonight. Picko was brilliant and Puk made a couple of great moves too

And we have riders that can be absolute doggy dodo there as well

Doyle Riss King &  even Batchelor goes well at times, then Starke got 14 at lynn last season same as Basso, Peterborough pushed them with 3 riders first half of match and 1 and 2 bits riders second half

Well that’s a pint I owe @Bald Bloke and more than happy to pay up. Basso was excellent, a real threat all night.

Thoroughly enjoyed the meeting and what a heat 15 to win it. Josh Pickering just carried on his 2021 form at Lynn and that move from 3rd to 1st was amazing. Spectacular way to mark your home debut.

Roll on Monday night, see you at the bar BB

Well we dug out a win there.Strength in depth pulled us through there, even with a few riders not at their best. But the last 5 races really bought the meeting alive.Ht 15 was awesome. When Ostergaard gated and Harris was at the back i thought it was game over for the Stars. Then Harris got into 3rd you thought a 1-5 was on the cards, but Pickering's absolutely astonishing ride got the crowd to their feet(i know most of them are anyway)and then NKI followed through for a 5-1.It was crazy i lost Pickering he went that wide and low i couldn't see him on bend 2.As an old friend said he hasn't seen that since the Henka days.

My thanks goes to Sheffield for releasing Pickering because the numbers didn't fit.I know speedway is a numbers game, but it is also an entertainment game and boy does Pickering fit the entertainment game side.I would take him every day of the week with his entertainment, enthusiasm and his willingness to team ride over the number side of the sport.

That's the most enjoyable evening at the AFA I've had for years. Who doesn't love a heat 15 full of passing when the result of the meeting rests on it.

Thought we threw away several points tonight so to still grind it out was pleasing. Also pretty clear to see that Basso's absence on Monday was a significant factor in our win.

We can only race who's in the team, that's speedway isn't it! I'll just take the 2 wins, especially after last year :D Who knows who will be in, off form etc etc next time round ;D

If Ipswich beat Lynn H&A it will go down to the bonus points gained , Ipswich do have several riders who ride Lynn well so they cant be discounted at this stage

Witches are out - can only get to 7 points and Boro already on 8

Lynn just need to win either meeting to progress

Interesting point perhaps that Lynn could go out after not losing a single meeting in the group during the main 15 heats

2 super heat losses for Lynn would see Boro through......

So great to read that the AFA has finally produced some racing to be proud of, plus a win to boot.

Fingers crossed for those that have stuck around it continues, obviously it's impossible to have every meeting a belter but hopefully this is a start.

What was different to usual??

Will be a huge concern for the start of the Premiership when Iversen finishes his 28 day contract for the club & fans. Regardless of results going forward, Jorgensen, Lawson & Pickering should entertain (when on form). Kerr, Worrall & Jorgensen swapping places at reserve so always strong at No6.

There is hope but can the management find someone to fill a 7.62 gap?!?

The first 10 heats were pretty much gate and go but the closeness of the match made it entertaining, the later heats were better when we actually saw some overtaking.

If we can come with a full team I fancy our chances at most tracks, Basso has been a super reserve so far.

Basso is clearly a talent, do you think he can maintain the form in the 1-5?? Peterborough's strength for the Premiership will be the fact any of the 1-6 could spend time at reserve, that's a huge advantage. Peterborough has excellent strength in depth. Stronger than Sheffield, their power is from the 1-5. That No6 position could be the difference in winning the league.

King's Lynn could be in the conversation too if they can fill that massive 7.62 Iversen gap

I think what I enjoyed most apart from Pickering's heroics was the fact that everyone cared about the result, every rider gave their all, Andersen punched the air going over the line in heat 14 because it mattered, same with the Lynn celebrations at the end. There was a decent atmosphere with both sets of fans making some noise and there felt like there was a passion in the stadium, that's not always been the case in recent years.

Let's hope there aren't any draws, then the stupidest regulation since the Tactical Joker will not have an unnecessary impact.

I think we will be alright at no1.

Basso looks set too be an instant hit wherever he goes. Few too many ifs and buts last night for panthers unfortunately, would MPT and an inform Nicholls have made the difference…? ulrich seems too run out of steam after 3 rides hopefully that’ll change. Fair play too the Lynn boys in heat 15 can’t deny that that was a great ride by both.

The scary thought also is that if Kildemand doesnt return for whatever reason on May 2nd Lynn could go into there first league fixture on Tv with no facility for him , hope that doesn't happen ,if hes not possibly returning as some have suggested elsewhere its going to be hard to find a suitable replacement in around 10 days

If either of the matches next week are rained off then Lynn will not be pleased
