The H Man Posted April 16, 2022 Report Share Posted April 16, 2022 Horrendous news, Nigel's passion for speedway shone through every time he appeared on the TV, radio or online. The sheer volume of sadness from his broadcast colleagues on social media shows as well as speedway riders and dart pros just how well he was liked and respected. I didn't know him as well as many on here, but we spoke lots of times when I did the clubcall line for Reading for him and we had plenty of banter over the years on twitter. I know how much Nigel was loved by his close colleagues in the speedway media and have spoken to a couple of them over the past 24 hours, they are totally devastated. What an awful loss to the commentary world but the loss of a Father, Husband and dear friends to his loved ones is where our thoughts must be at this very sad time. He will be sadly missed for his speedway commentating and I loved his enthusiasm and presentation.. My condolences to his family. RIP Nigel. Monday nights will sadly never be the same again . My thoughts are with his devastated family and colleagues and friends. Some commentators are synonymous with their sports, Murray Walker, Sid Waddell etc - we've sadly lost ours. I do hope after some time of grieving and healing Kelvin returns to the commentary booth to continue his work in memory of his mate Nigel Pearson. I think that the post is insensitive and says more about the people who feel its appropriate to post something like that about one of the good guys of speedway and one of the speedway family . There are some postings which have said something like 'I didn't like his style of commentary, but I'm sorry to hear of his passing', which is fair enough. And by the way, I had only witnessed his commentary a handful of times with Kelvin and I loved it.
