Plus Redcar look one of the better teams so it's not and shouldn't be complete doom and gloom for Newcastle. BWD shouldn't be taking several meetings to get the better of second strings. Reserves fair enough but need to find some hefty improvement. Whilst away meetings aren't where points will come for the Diamonds its going to need to be a massively improved home performance if thos season is to last the distance
boz
Hard to read too much into that really. No idea what BWD was doing wiping out Roynon after heat 1. Very poor. Clegg rode well for the Diamonds and was the main threat alongside Wright. Complin showed enough that he will do OK I think. Kerr was never going to be beaten if not for bike issues, and all three heat leaders looked good. Roynon did well, and impressed with the reserves - Edwards deserved more for his efforts. Cant really read too much into this I don't think - but should be a good battle for the Bears number 1 spot this year.

Royno and BWD have a personal dislike.. most likely stems from that

Wasn’t close enough in the actual race to do anything as stupid fortunately. Like Boz said hard to judge after 1 meeting, all the Bears had at least 1 paid win but will face much stronger opposition. Bears top 3 were a class apart and the rest of the team solid. A few Diamonds showed glimpses and Complin deserved more for his efforts but as a team they were constantly outgated. Congreave looked ok but was poor out of the starts and made it impossible for himself on his first visit to the track. Think they will struggle away from Brough Park. PhilTheAce
BWD sleeping with roynons wife and then purposely knocking him off after the race. BwD should receive a ban for his actions after race 1. Although I wasn't there, was it as bad as the updates say????
Gaz
Forgetting how woeful a performance it was from the diamonds, how shocking was it that they had a full back cover for Stuart Robson’s testimonial and only went and spelt his name wrong very poor! Legend of the sport and I am sure there will be much better racing next week.

He only had 1 stunted season at Redcar (and a short spell at Middlesbrough) but he has been a great servant to the sport and deserves his farewell meeting regardless.

Looks like Roynon's pop at the Diamonds has inspired him more than the bad place. Cheers, appreciate it!
enotian
Only surprise was that the Redcar heatleaders dropped 4 points (3 due to an engine fail). I'm sure Wilson Dean, Complin and Congreve will get better and Starke might have got more than the R/R five but it's a team which is never going to take points from a team with three strong heat leaders. Home or Away. So if your opposition is guaranteed nigh on 41 points from three riders plus another guaranteed 3 from heat 2, 8 and 12 or 14. The other four riders only need to add another 2 between them to win. This is what happens when the teams aren't evenly matched. Hopefully the on track action was better than the scoreline suggests.

Hopefully the lad gets a chance at no7 at some point. Seen him at Brough in 2019 when Eastbourne won with 3 heat leaders and him at reserve. Looked really talented. Seemed to get mucked about last season so hopefully he can get back on track this.
Diamonds85
Brad has certainly made himself rather unpopular on certain social medias, even with some of the Diamonds fans. Wonder what sort of a reception he'll get next Sunday, disaster waiting to happen? Especially if he doesn't perform

ch958
Historically Newcastle sports fans have wanted someone to hang their hats on - Shearer, Fabulous, McDonald, Owens, Mauger, Wilkinson. Even with an average 6 blokes below him they need someone like this. Hope they find one and soon or I fear for their future.
geoff100
Nice to see the bikes out again watching from back straight riss coming off 2nd bend how he misses the fence by inches at speed, one slight complaint the home straight fence hadnt been painted looked dirty not a good look for first meeting! Bear_Bottom
Redcar Bears Speedway Please please please would you reconsider the positioning of the sponsor banner right in front of the starting gate. It has completely destroyed the exciting viewing spectacle of the start of the race as fans who stand near the front of the tapes can now only see the riders heads. It has removed all the enjoyment of the start watching for rolls, tape touching, flyers etc. Appreciate sponsors need to be highlighted but surely not to the detriment of the viewing fans?
