proudy
Calling all Dukes fans! On Friday 2nd July 2004, with the kind permission of the landlady, there will be a reunion for Halifax Dukes speedway fans and riders (if we can find them) at the SHAY HOTEL, Halifax. From 7.30 onwards, you can meet old familiar faces and re-live your speedway memories. Does anyone know how we can contact ex-riders? It would be great if some could come along. If anyone has any queries or suggestions, contact me on this site, I will be checking it frequently. So, cancel your holiday for that week, and pass the word around! proudy
Now then, now then. I've been trackin' the amount of `viewings' to the reunion. I'm right chuffed that its passed 50. Incredible! But nobody wants to talk to me. Will I be sat with my cloth cap, whippet and a pint of mild discussing the merits of Halifax Speedway with Eric Boocock and a few mates, I ask myself? Hopefully not. Does anyone know the whereabouts of the `Barmy Army' members? I've just signed up to BACK TRACK speedway magazine. I recommend it to everyone. Especially as there is a feature on King Kenny Carter - even has a picture on the front. What more could you want. Its like going back in time. See you all at the `Do'. Gemini
I hope you are successful in tracking down some riders and loads of fellow supporters. I know Shoddy on here was a very keen Halifax/Kenny Carter fan. How about putting another post in the Speedway Discussions area because you might get more of a response in there? BrizHeathen
Good luck with the reunion. I had a chat with Craig Pendlebury a while back. He now resides in Perth. I remember him as a fast trapper at the Shay.
keepturningleft
I was at the very first meeting at the Shay in 1965 as a 12 year old, and was at the last meeting in 1985 as a 32 year old! Provided I'm not on holiday, I will definitely be at the reunion.
proudy
Heyup, Proudy here, Just a quick note to let you all know that ERIC BROADBELT will be coming along to our little reunion. We hope to have some messages from ex-riders to put on a notice board at the Shay Hotel. Merv Janke has been contacted and we're also trying to find a few more Aussies. Does anyone know how to contact the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund. This would be a great oportunity for them to swell the coffers. Thanks for the support. Keep looking. Proudy P.S. Anyone know how to find Dennis and Mick of the Barmy Army?

proudy
What seemed a long time off is almost here! Myself, Lyn and Neil are looking forward to seeing you all at our `reunion' Don't be shy, come along and say `Hello' to us. With a lot of support, we might encourage someone to bring speedway back to Halifax, it is strongly rumoured. The Yorkshire Post kindly gave us column space a few days ago. They will contact us in a few weeks time to see how everything went. A follow up story will then appear shortly afterwards. Lets show everyone that speedway will be well supported in Halifax. Up The Dukes!! Proudy.
