Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting

Recommended Posts

LET’S TRY AGAIN!!!!

We are delighted to be able to confirm the 4th attempt to run the Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting will take place at Redcar Speedway on SUNDAY 19TH MARCH with a 3PM start.

Thanks to Jamie and Jade for their continued support in trying to get this meeting on again.

The task of confirming the line-up will start again and we will confirm riders once we have agreed with them

If everyone involved could do a “sun” “dry” “cold” dance between now and then it would be much appreciated……we just don’t want any of the wet stuff!!

Emails will be sent to all of the sponsors already involved over the next week or so

4 could be the magic number!

6 weeks tomorrow we will hopefully be staging the Farewell meeting sponsored by RMCS Racing and after watching the final few minutes of the 24 hr sponsored bike ride to raise money for Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund the riders will be getting ready for Heat 1…..and what a great way to start. The heat will be sponsored by The Holden Family
Simon Lambert Racing will occupy gate 1 with Nicolai Klindt in blue next to him. Ryan Douglas Racing is in white off gate 3 with Mr Box Office Chris 'Bomber' Harris in yellow on gate 4. Referee Craig Ackroyd will get the meeting underway and we are sure the crowd on the day will be properly entertained with such an interesting field.
We are putting together the final running order for the day, but the Young Lions Speedway and the Uprght demonstration races will be slotted into the day to continue your enjoyment.
If you would still like to get involved with some sponsorship on the day, or bid for one of the racejackets that are still available then please drop an email to robbosfarewell@hotmail.com

Be there!

:D

PUK-ING BRILLIANT!!
We are delighted to announce that the final piece into the jigsaw for the Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting is multiple Grand Prix winner, and multiple Danish Champion NIELS KRISTIAN IVERSEN
Niels who is affectionately known as Puk is back in the UK for 2023 to lead the Peterborough Panthers and this morning confirmed that he would be able to join us.
“Niels actually rode in a meeting held for me at Rye House a few years ago and one of my overriding memories was the cracking night we had in the bar afterwards!” Said Robbo
“He has been a top top rider for a very long time and it’s great for British Speedway that riders like Niels are back racing regularly and it will also give the Redcar public a chance to see another quality rider on the day. Only 3 weeks to go now, and we are getting back to the excitement stage!.”

PROGRAMME CHANGE…..
There will be an enforced change to the programme as Max Clegg Racing us unfortunately had to withdraw from the meeting next Sunday.
We are working on a replacement and will announce the new rider as soon as we have agreed.
Good luck to Max for the 2023 season and we hope he gets a team place fixed soon.

LINE-UP FULL AGAIN!!
We are delighted to announce that a replacement for Max Clegg has tonight been confirmed, and again it’s another quality addition to the line-up.
Stepping in to fill the vacated number 10 racejacket is 2021 Speedway of Nations Gold Medalist and 2022 Premiership League Winner Tom Brennan Racing #27
Tom will race for the Belle Vue Aces and Glasgow Tigers in 2023 answered the call-up today and Robbo was delighted he was available to join on Sunday.
“We tried to get Tom into the line-up when putting the meeting on but he already had an engagement. When Max pulled out we messaged a few riders who we had originally contacted and was delighted when Tom confirmed that he could now join us. His rise in the sport has been amazing, and it is yet another quality rider in the line-up and I’m so happy with it.” Said Robbo

Robson: It’s anyone’s to win!

BY ADMIN · MARCH 18, 2023

Stuart Robson is all set for his long awaited farewell meeting tomorrow (3pm start @ the ECCO Arena) as the British star finally brings down the curtain on his career after a near 30 year involvement in the sport.

Robson has had to be patient with the meeting being postponed a staggering 3 times due to inclement weather and rider unavailability. Nevertheless, Robson believes this is the strongest line-up he has put together, “ I’ve had some great line-ups for the 3 postponed meetings but this is the best one I’ve had so far! Also, I would like to thank the 18 riders for agreeing to race in the meeting as it is hard to get the full line-up in place.”

The former Newcastle and Redcar star also explained how the participation of the Grand Prix star Freddie Lindgren came about, “Freddie actually contacted me asking me if he could ride in the meeting and I didn’t have to think twice about that! Freddie is doing a bit of a tour around the country during pre-season as he’s riding in the Peter Craven memorial at Belle Vue and the Ben Fund Bonanza at Kings Lynn.”

‘Robbo’ also believes the meeting is wide open, “Anyone could conceivably go on to win the meeting as it’s a really strong line-up. I wouldn’t like to pick a favourite to be honest. I think there’s 9/10 riders who could finish on the podium.”

The former Coventry man would also like to inform fans that there will be a Ben Fund collection at the meeting, “ We have some people coming up and they are going to come around with some buckets. The Ben Fund has been really good to me over the years and it is nice to be able to give something back.”

The meeting opens the 2023 season at the ECCO Arena with home fans having Charles Wright and Danny King to cheer on. Also, the aforementioned Freddie Lindgren lines up alongside legends of the sport including Niels Kristian-Iversen and Chris Harris. More of the names to watch out for include Nicolai Klindt, Sam Masters, Ryan Douglas and Kyle Howarth.

The meeting also includes upright and youth demonstration races with the upright class being headlined by the recently retired Aaron Summers and Bears co-promoter Jade Mudgway!

For fans unable to attend the farewell, the meeting will be streamed by our streaming partners, Tapes Up with an early bird price of £11.99 available until Sunday. Any fans wishing to purchase the meeting can do so by visiting www.redcar-speedway.tv
