KASPER LOOKING FOR HOME ADVANTAGE
Next rider to be announced for the Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting is home favourite KASPER ANDERSEN.
Kasper will be flying the flag for the home supporters and will be sure of having a noisy following. Robbo was keen to have some home representation and was pleased when Kasper agreed to sign up
Robbo said “when planning my meeting the key thing was to always try and give people a some differences with the line-up but one key thing is to give the home fans someone to support, and although we haven’t finished the line-up yet, Kasper was only too pleased to get another meeting in his diary. I’m still hoping to get some more Redcar representation, but it’s not easy getting riders at this time of year and a few already have plans. Fingers crossed we can get Kasper another friendly face in the pits”.

GAARD OF HONOUR FOR ROBBO
8th rider confirmed for the Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting is a rider who has been involved from day 1 and is coming back from injury ULRICH OSTERGAARD
It’s fair to say 2022 hasn’t gone as planned for the likeable Dane, but he still has the opportunity for plenty of meetings towards the end of the season and will again line up for Robbo
“I’ve been waiting and hoping that Ulrich would be available and was delighted when it was confirmed he would take part. Has been generous in accepting the booking 3 times now…..just hope we can get it finished :-)” said Robbo

ROYNON SIGNS UP

Adam Roynon is the latest rider to agree to join us for the Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting at Redcar on 1st October

Roynon who started the season with the Bears moved over the Scunthorpe during the season, and asked Stuart when they met at the Birmingham v Coventry challenge a few weeks back how plans were going and Robbo was only too happy to ask him if he wanted a skid

“Was good to bump into Royno at the challenge match the other week when I was on the spanners for Luke Crang and we got talking about the meeting and at that point I thought yeah let’s get him in. With the end of season playoffs and injuries occurring it it was great to hear someone willing to ride and we go back a fair way with our Coventry days so it is great to have him involved” said Robbo

WRIGHT PLACE WRIGHT TIME
12th rider confirmed for the Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting is experienced campaigner James Wright.
Wright who returned to the sport last year has been riding for the Scorpions of Scunthorpe this season and has had many a battle with Robbo over the years
“I’ve known James a long time and have had many tussles with him in the past, and he is another British rider who has given a lot to the sport over the years and I was surprised when he got back on a bike last year, but he can still do it, and his scores this year show he can still provide some good points for his team. Look forward to him popping out the starts and providing a real challenge to the rest of the line-up”. Said Robbo

JENKINS DOUBLES HOME PARTICIPATION
Jordan Jenkins is the latest rider to be confirmed for the Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting which is now only just over 2 weeks away at Redcar on Saturday 1st October with a 5pm start.
Jenkins joins fellow Bear Kasper Andersen in leading the home riders attempts to win the meeting and the young Brit has been in some good form over the last couple of months
Robbo said “ I saw him have a great meeting v Glasgow a few weeks back and he has also impressed people when he has been on tv on Eurosport for Peterborough. I know the Redcar fans hold him in high regard, and was delighted when he agreed to be back in the line-up again.”

BACKING THE YOUNG BRITS ONCE AGAIN

We are delighted to announce that once again we will be giving the 125cc and 250cc classes of the fabulous Young Lions Speedway organisation a spin during the Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting at Redcar on Saturday 1st October.

Discussions have been taking place with their surpremo Neil Vatcher (and what a great job he has done by the way!!) and we are honoured to be able to give each of them 4 rides each throughout the event.

Robbo said “even from day 1 a few years ago I wanted to have these guys involved in my meeting, and by bringing the start time forward a little bit, I want to give them the chance of riding in front of what will hopefully be a good crowd, and experience that even more. Neil was only too happy to get the boys lined up and I can’t wait for them to have their track time. It takes me way back to when myself and Scott started and can only imagine what it would have been like to ride in such a professional set-up like they have now!”

The confirmed riders are

250cc Class

152) Ashton Vale
266) Caydin Martin
145) William Cairns
9) Luke Harrison

125cc Class

6) Seth Norman
23) Harry Fletcher
63) Cooper Rushen
505) Casper Kluczniak

We have been able to source some sponsorship for each of the young lads to have a new tyre thanks to Marcus and the team at STAKEFORD TYRE SERVICES, SANDRA ROBERTSON BLACK AND THE ROBBOS COVENTRY BEES FAN CLUB.  They will also receive some fuel and our thanks go to CITY GEARBOXES COVENTRY LTD

If anyone else would like to help with any sponsorship for the event please contact us at robbosfarewell@hotmail.com

REFEREE CONFIRMED FOR MEETING AND CHANCE TO BE HIS ASSISTANT

We can confirm that the referee for the meeting will be experienced official CHRIS DURNO. Originally Craig Ackroyd was due to be the ref for our meeting in April, but unfortunately Craig has a prior commitment and we thank Chris for stepping in.

Thanks to the kind agreement from Chris we have one space available to shadow Craig and be involved on the night. A real unique opportunity

Meeting Chris before the meeting, you will be involved in his pre meeting trackwalk, the rider briefing with access to the pits, and also (although it might be a tight squeeze) access to the refs box where Chris might even let your start a race or two!! We will also throw in a visit to the centre green for you to watch a race too.

To book this great change, the first person who gets in touch and bids £150 will become the Assistant Meeting Referee for the night!

Please drop an email to robbosfarewell@hotmail.com to book this great chance it’s first come first served.

NOT ABLE TO TRAVEL TO THE MEETING…..STILL JOIN US VIA LIVE STREAM! www.redcar-speedway.tv
Thanks to our friends at Redcar Speedway TV we have been able to secure a live stream of the meeting on Saturday 1st October starting at 5pm
Stuart spent a lot of time at teams in the southern part of the UK, and whilst there will be fans of Coventry, Rye House and Lakeside (to name 3 of the teams) who will be making the journey to the Ecco Arena, we know there will be plenty who wanted to show their support for Robbo who won’t be able to make the journey. Here is now your chance to still be part of the event.
You can sign up now for the live stream at www.redcar-speedway.tv for a pre-sale special price of just £11.99. This price will available until 5pm on Friday 30th September. At that point the price will be £14.99 until the start of the meeting.
We obviously would like to see a bumper crowd there on the evening, but for those of you abroad too this gives you an opportunity to be involved.

BIT OF NOSTALGIA FOR THE FAREWELL MEETING
Final piece of the meeting jigsaw is announced today with the confirmation that there will be some “upright” demonstration races throughout the event.
Redcar Co-Promoter and Team Manager Jade Mudgway will be one of the riders involved as the guys bring back their Godden, Jap and Westlake upright engines to roar around the Ecco Arena on Saturday 1st October start time 5pm. As you can see by the photo this Gary O’Hare Westlake still looks in great nick now!!
The Upright demonstration races will be held in memory of a friend of Robbo from down at his time with the Rye House Side who sadly passed away. Darren Varney will be remembered by his close friends who are also making the mammoth journey up from London for the event. We welcome them and thank them for their support.
If anyone wants to contact us to potentially cover some of the tyre and fuel costs for these guys please reply to this FB post or drop an email to robbosfarewell@hotmail.com

SPONSOR THANK YOU

With under 2 weeks to go until our 3rd attempt, we just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who has been in touch over the last 2 and a half years and offered sponsorship.

When starting out planning for a meeting like this, the main goal is to put on a meeting for all to enjoy, but also to try and ensure that Robbo earns something for it as his farewell.

Covering the costs involved are important, and although riders give confirm their attendance, you like to ensure their costs are covered. To be able to cover their costs, tyre costs and chuck them some fuel for the meeting was a great start.

Then when we announced we would be involving the Youth Lions 125cc and 250cc categories, we also wanted to try and get them a bit of cover too. Thanks to everyone who got involved again to cover a brand new tyre and fuel for the event was again another bonus.

Then we have 20 heats, a semi final and final, as well as the 8 youth races and the 4 upright speedway demo races. To be able to get a sponsor for every one of their races really blew our socks off.

Add to that the Entertainer of the Night award, Fastest Time of the Night, Wheelie Competition and Assistant Referee, and it’s fair to say the response has been nothing short of remarkable.

We will still have the racejacket auction running until 5pm Monday 3rd October, but with 5 of those jackets already being sold for the top amount, things are looking really positive.

None of this would have been possible without the continued support of Redcar Speedway. Jamie, Jade, Ian, Russell and everyone there have been amazing throughout. I’d like to also pass on my thanks to all of the great photographers who have let me use their photos to help promote the meeting.

Robbo was very highly thought of at the clubs he rode at, and the fact that we have had sponsors from not just teams he had ridden for, but also from supporters of clubs he only rode against shows the amazing support from speedway fans around the world.

I am sincerely hoping the weather does it’s best for us a week on Saturday, and that as many of you turn up as possible to watch in person and make as much noise. If you can’t be there, then the fabulous stream with Redcar Speedway Tv is also available.

Thanks to everyone, and if you still think you’d like to add some kind of sponsorship then please drop me an email at robbosfarewell@hotmail.com

Kind regards

Martin

GERMAN ACE IN THE PACK
We are delighted to announce the 14th rider for the Stuart Robson Farewell meeting as the Belle Vue high flying reserve NODRICK BLODORN
It has been a frustrating time for us to confirm the last 3 riders, but thankfully our efforts to get Nodrick into the line-up have paid off and we can’t wait to see him line-up at the Ecco Arena next weekend.
Robbo said” I spoke to Robbie Kessler who has been helping Nodrick and we’ve had to wait for play-off fixtures to be confirmed etc but once it was confirmed that he was available then we got it confirmed straightaway. He has played a real part in helping the Aces to the play-offs and is becoming a real asset to their side. I am sure he will enjoy the sweeping bends at the Ecco Arena and I’m looking forward to seeing him in action.

CHANCE TO OWN A BIT OF HISTORY

18 years ago on a sunny July afternoon Robbo actually celebrated his Testimonial at Coventry’s Brandon Stadium. I’m sure a lot of you were there on a great day.

Our friends at Clean Cut Sports have brushed off the old footage and have managed to rustle up some copies for us to sell and Pete has made the kind gesture of all proceeds to Robbos fund after postage costs. Thanks Pete

It was a pairs event and the pairs on the day were.
Robbo and his brother Scott
Josh Larsen and Nick Simmonds
Joe Screen and David Meldrum
Billy Janniro and Jason Bunyan
Paul Clews and Morton Risager
Steve Johnson and Chris Harris
Craig Boyce and Tomas Topinka
Ryan Fisher and Travis McGowan

Wonder if it makes Chris 'Bomber' Harris feel old….he will be the only rider to do both meetings

You can order a copy of this DVD for just £7.50!!! (includes postage to the UK)

If you would like to order one please either send a FB DM or an email to robbosfarewell@hotmail.com

FLYING CLEGG JOINS ROBBO

One of the main reasons behind the recent semi final demolition the Leicester Lions handed out to the Edinburgh Monarchs in the Championship Play-Offs was their flying reserve Max Clegg and he is confirmed today in the line-up for next weekend.

Max who was paid for 17 points over the 2 legs has really given the Lions a trump card at reserve and he will provide a real handful next Saturday.

Robbo said “Max has a great connection with the Diamonds, and was a rider I wanted to ask when doing my line-up but with the delay to the play-offs it looked like Leicester were going to be riding on 1st. Stewart Dickson had kept us involved and once he let us know the Lions were riding an NDL meeting I wanted to see if Max was interested and was delighted when he said yes. Obviously I’m disappointed that Dan and Joe Thompson cannot now ride and would like to thank them for agreeing initially.

HILLEBRAND OUT……..BUT COMPLIN LEE-DS THE WAY

disappointing news received last night that Marius Hillebrand is unable to join us next Saturday due to a fixture in Poland……but we have been able to replace him with one of the busiest guys around at the moment in LEE COMPLIN

Lee started the season with Newcastle before they withdrew mid season and since then has been piling up the points with the Plymouth Gladiators and Armadale Devils.

We would like to thank Lee for helping to join us at short notice and look forward to seeing him next Weekend

MEETING POSTPONED…..AGAIN

It is with deep regret and sadness that we have had to take the decision tonight to postpone the Farewell meeting again.

Over the last 48 hrs we have had 5 riders unfortunately pull out of the meeting due to new commitments abroad and also injury.  Today the final hit was Glasgow running vs Poole on Saturday afternoon which cost us another 2 riders from the line-up. It’s a disappointing situation, but one that unfortunately we have no control over and obviously clubs have to get their fixtures sorted and finished.

Discussions will take place with Jamie and Jade at Redcar again to get a new date fixed into the calendar for early 2023 and those details will be provided once it has been confirmed and ratified with those in charge. All of the people connected to Redcar have been an amazing support throughout the planning stages and we can’t thank them enough.

To every sponsor that remained with us from 2020 through until now a massive thank you, but the same offer applies as last time. An email will come out to you soon, we would of course love you to remain with us, but if you would like a refund, please drop an email to robbosfarewell@hotmail.com and we will arrange that for you.

Also for those of you who had purchased racejackets we will be in touch shortly.

Deeply disappointed for Robbo but we look forward to the 4th attempt in early 2023

Martin and Robbo
