Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting

PLANS TAKING SHAPE

Plans are back underway for the Robbos Farewell meeting which is back on the Fixture list for Friday 1st April with a 7.30 start at Redcar.

Those who had already agreed to sponsor are currently being contacted and updated on the plans. There will be some sponsorship opportunities still available and details as to what is available will be published soon.

Robbo is currently working his way through his list of riders for the event, and the names will be released in due course.

Currently Friday 1st April only has one fixture planned in the UK……so if you are looking for a speedway fix then all roads lead to Redcar!

3RD TIME LUCKY????
Dates for your calendar ladies and gentlemen……SATURDAY 1ST OCTOBER 2022 - START TIME 5PM!!!
We will be trying for the 3rd time to say farewell to Robbo on 1st October. Thanks to the Redcar promotion for their support with the event, and also being able to confirm a Saturday staging. A decision to start at 5pm will also hopefully help make a decision for families with children who would like to attend, this will help hopefully with that choice!
If you had originally sponsored something an email will be sent to you over the coming weeks, and the process of discussing the dates with the riders starts all over again……but where possible Stuart will be trying to get as many of the same line-up as originally listed in April.
Thank you to everyone for their support and patience as we start all over again...

ITS THAT MAN STARKE AGAIN!!
In keeping with tradition, Paul Starke was again the first rider to confirm his attendance for the 3rd staging of the Stuart Robson Farwell Meeting at Redcar on Saturday 1st October with an earlier start time of 5pm
Starkey has been riding for Ipswich in the top division this season, made a mid season switch to Oxford after the sad closure of Newcastle where Robbo and Paul struck up a friendship that remains today
“Starkey had been generous enough to offer his services for the first 2 attempts, and was only too happy when I asked him about this time around. What happened at Newcastle was awful but I’m glad he got himself fixed up at Oxford at least.”
Rider Sponsorship GEORGE ENGLISH AND FAMILY
Tyre Sponsor MARGY AND FAMILY
Fuel Sponsor AGF PLANT
Thanks to those sponsors for still being involved in the meeting

LAMBERT IS BACK AGAIN!
2nd rider from the original line-up to confirm his attendance is Scunthorpe’s Simon Lambert
Out and out racer Lambert was quick to jump at the chance of racing in the meeting at Redcar on Saturday 1st October and will provide some stern opposition to the other 15 riders
Robbo said “the moment we had to pull the plug in April, Simon kindly offered his services again whenever we had agreed a new date, and once we got in contact he was in straight away. Another true British racer and delighted that him and Starkey are already confirmed.”
Simon will be sponsored for the meeting by TREVS TYRES with his Tyre sponsored by SEAN WILKINSON. Simon’s fuel is kindly sponsored by KEV AUSTIN AND LEIGH
So 2 down 14 to go for the 3rd attempt to give Robbo his Farewell.

BRITISH UNDER 19 CHAMPION BACK IN THE LINE-UP
We are delighted that LEON FLINT has again agreed to take part in the 3rd attempt to run the Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting at Redcar on Saturday 1st October at 5pm
Leon has had a very busy season with the Berwick and Wolverhampton sides and is currently a very busy rider with guest bookings here and there too.
Robbo said “I was delighted when Leon agreed to ride back in April and was even happier when he agreed to take part again. He has had a great season and could well become a key part in any success Wolverhampton might have in the play offs this season. It will hopefully be good news for any Bandits fans that might come and support the event on the night”.
Leon retains the original sponsors from the evening with SAPPHIRE ENGINEERING being his meeting sponsor and his tyre sponsored by RUSSELL ARMSTRONG. His fuel sponsored by SANDRA GIBBONS in memory of STEVE GIBBONS
Thank you again to the sponsors who have remained with us for the meeting

BOMBER HARRIS AGREES TO RIDE AGAIN
4th rider to be confirmed for the Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting at Redcar on 1st October is the Peterborough and Berwick Number 1 Chris 'Bomber' Harris
Bomber has had a superb season, and has really shone for both the Panthers and the Bandits, where the Bandits fans have really enjoyed some great from the back manoeuvres this season.
Robbo was really happy when Chris confirmed his attendance. “Bomber is still without doubt one of the sports most entertaining riders, and I was chuffed when he confirmed he would line up again. Only recently I saw him make some fantastic passing moves at Birmingham and it showed that he is still very much loving the sport. I’m sure the fans on the night will be treated to some great Bomber action.”
Bomber will again be sponsored by the ROBBOS COVENTRY BEES FAN CLUB whilst his tyre and fuel will be sponsored by Sandra Robertson Black. Thanks to those guys for their support
Bomber joins Simon Lambert Racing Leon Flint Racing and Paul Starke Racing in the first 4 riders to be confirmed

5TH RIDER IS AN ABSOLUTE MASTERS-STROKE
We are delighted to announce the 5th rider to be announced for the Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting at Redcar on Saturday 1st October is the 2022 Championship League Riders Champion Sam Masters
Sam has led from the front this year and has been in sensational form for both Wolverhampton and Edinburgh and it is a real coup to have him back in the line-up.
Robbo was delighted “Sam was in the original pre-covid line up, and couldn’t make the April staging due to the Monarchs Press and Practice day clashing on the same day. When I checked whether he might be able to ride on October 1st I was delighted when he agreed to it. He is a class performer and I know he will be one of the top boys on the night”.

GERMAN STARLET COMING BACK OVER THE WATER
We are delighted to announce the 6th rider for the restaging of the Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting, is young German star Marius Hillebrand.
Marius was originally going to make his first appearance around the Redcar circuit back in the original staging of the farewell meeting, and we are delighted he has agreed to come over for the restaging.
Recommended by Peter Schroeck, Hillebrand will bring an entertaining style to the circuit and Robbo was only too happy to get him back in the line up. “I spoke to Peter the other week and he again mentioned about Marius, and with all the covid restrictions over and travel allowed I was only too happy to get him back in the line-up. I’m sure UK promoters will keep an eye on him, and it will be good for the crowd on the night to see how he gets on”.

LETS KEEP THE SUMMER-S GOING
One thing we will need on Saturday 1st October is faith in the UK weather, so we have started our own weather planning by announcing the 7th rider into the line up…..Aaron Summers
Aaron was in the original staging similar to Sam And Marius, but unfortunately had gone into retirement when arranging the meeting back in April. One piece of good news in the restaging was Aaron returning to the sport with Ipswich and Oxford, and Robbo was quick to ask Aaron whether he would be free for attempt 3, and long time friend Summers quickly agreed.
Robbo said “I was gutted at the postponement obviously in April, but I’m really happy that I’ve been able to get Aaron back into the line-up. We go back a long way, and he has certainly done a good job with the Cheetahs and is helping Ipswich to a good end of season finish too. Will be good to have him back around for sure”.

COOKING UP A STORM
Joining the line-up for the Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting is Glasgow Number 1 and Ex GP Star CRAIG COOK
Cookie was originally in the line up for April but was caught out with Covid, and was replaced by Drew Kemp, but Craig has kindly agreed to join us on 1st October.
Robbo was excited to hear that Craig could rejoin the evening “I’ve seen Cookie have a couple of bad knocks this season but am glad he will be with us going into a really important end of season with the Tigers and I’m sure he will be happy to get a few more laps under his belt. He is a top performer on his day and will be one of the stars of the night I’m sure.”
