2022 championship predictions

Recommended Posts

1) Glasgow (Basso and Brennan could be 2 of the biggest upwardly mobile movers all season)
2) Leicester (strong 1-7 and one of the Twins will be at reserve all season)
3) Poole (weaker at reserve than some - Kemp seems to have flatlined -)
4) Redcar (dark horses for me strong all through and underrated improving reserves)
5) Oxford (solid if they all click - will have to see what home advantage they have if any)
6) Plymouth (4 heat leaders if Kennett delivers and 2 improving reserves - reliant on a few staying fit)
7) Scunthorpe (very strong at home very vulnerable away)
8) Berwick (solid at home vulnerable away)
9) Edinburgh (not as strong as 2021 home form should be solid)
10) Birmingham (I don't believe Ellis will be available most of the time and without him will struggle)
11) Newcastle (will surprise a few at home and certainly wont be whipping boys at Byker)

Ref to Kemp, he looked impressive Wednesday, perhaps now he's at Poole he might kick on

Yep he certainly seemed to have flatlined against Premiership Panthers on Wednesday!! - Not!!  7+1 beating Ostergaard and MPT too!

Has certainly started well for Wolves and Poole. Be interesting to see if he can push one of the Cook brothers down to reserve!

Now all teams are completed - my final predictions:

1) Poole
2) Glasgow
3) Leicester
4) Oxford
5) Redcar
6) Birmingham
7) Plymouth
8) Berwick
9) Edinburgh
10) Scunthorpe
11) Newcastle

Not objecting, but I would be interested in your reasoning in Birmingham 6th as no one else has them near a play off place.

I think and hope he'll have a breakthrough year with two new clubs, however the comment is valid based on last season ie competitive fixtures, not sure warm up meetings are an accurate barometer for any rider.

When one of them is against a team in a higher league, I think it's okay ;)

Top 2 are ok, both should average above 8. Expected Auty & Nielsen to average (6-7) as back up. Morris & Shanes (5.5) so would always have a good reserve, with a promising Pearson at 7, who seems the most likely of all the 4.00 newcomers to reach his ave.

Is it a bit concerning that we've not had a competitive meeting at championship level yet? Looks like every home side hitting 60 so far. Are the away sides just some of the weakest or is this a sign of what's to come?

Slightly concerning. See what next week brings.

The thought had crossed my mind and while it's early days I think the league is almost in two clear halves, you can see those top five or so teams giving the lower sides proper hidings at home, the best meetings are likely to be when those top sides race each other (Poole, Glasgow, Redcar, Leicester, Oxford) or when the rest meet. Scunny, Brum, Newcastle and Edinburgh look like strugglers to me with Plymouth and Berwick slugging it out for sixth.

Very early days mind.

Unfortunately 3 of the teams that will be battling for the wooden spoon, Newcastle, Birmingham and Scunthorpe have been involved in these away matches

Yes that's been my hope that it's just been strong home sides against the poorer sides in the league

Or when the bottom 6 are at home to the top 5!
