I'm aware of Tommy and Bengt as World Final standard riders, who is the other? Who would be the 2nd strings and reserves? I recall the lad from Ipswich from recent history.

Tommy's dad Joel, and Bengt's brother Lars would be the next two in line, followed by Tommy's brother Bo. Then Jimmy and Kim...

I was going for a full team all from the same family.

Pretty unique I think.

Not unique... The Dugards had Charlie, John, Bob, Eric, Martin, Paul, and Kelsey.

2 world titles and 9 world final appearances between the 3 heat leaders  Freddie, Eric and Ian.

backed up by Peter, John, John J, and....  not sure who's next best out of the many riders named Williams

Not necessarily to the same strength, but other names that could field teams are:

Smith - Pete, Pete, Peter, Alan, Don, Frank, Graeme, Kevin, Scott, Scott, Mike, Andy, Paul...

Jackson - Alan, Dave, Dave, John, Peter, Wayne, Rob, Gerry...

Brown - Wayne, Allan, Dingle, Malcolm, Tom, Max, Walter...

White - Vic, Keith, Colin, Doug, Jon Jon, Phil, George...

Wilson - Ray, Reg, Ian, John, Guy, Des, Sean, Steve...

Nice. I'm still swaying towards the Collins' given that extra world finalist.

Could there be a Lawson septet?

Maybe a surnames 4TT would be competitive. Collins', Pedersen's, Jansson's, Williams'

Could only remember Peter and Les in the final. My bad

I'll forgive you

Always reckon Phil and Les are a closer match than most would suggest. Sure, Les had some standout individual success, particularly in 82. But Phil was a better rider for England than Les.

Les on top form was truly world class (add the 80 BLRC to his 82 performances). From 83-86 Phil was the better rider though ( and Les was arguably surpassed by Neil as well from 85), with thr highlight being the overseas title win in the wet.

I see your point, but to me there is no question that they rank Peter, Les, Phil, Neil, Stephen.  If there's a question mark, it's whether Neil's longevity places him ahead of Phil (personally, I'd say not).
