He has a 28 day ban as he didn't ride last Wednesday I'm led to believe, so don't shoot the messenger if not correct, that he had a Danish commitment on Wednesday that was called off. Hans Anderson rode on Wednesday having only been declared the night before. He however had a booking for PL on the Thursday. Vissing only has Brummies so at very short notice didn't make himself available for a match he wasn't available for until very late on Tues night. If that's the case his ban in my opinion is incredibly harsh. Two sides to every story.
Racin Jason 72
Could be a cost cutting exercise by the brummies. If what I was told was correct it’s a lot of money for someone scoring 5 or 6 pts

So, there's another month of guests to come, which ironically will probably boost the team's firepower. This farce was completely foreseeable though, wasn't it? Some would say this was "cute" team management to sign him, knowing that we'd get to this point where "facilities" worth more than the rider himself would become available. Others would say it's another example of being completely disrespectful to the paying public. Quite frankly I'm not interested in Vissing's reasons for not being available. We all knew it was going to happen, so who cares why? From December onwards, we all read about "how calendars were being checked", so all this was completely predictable. What I'm more interested in is who in the Brummies management signed-off on all of this, knowing what was inevitably going to happen. They sold the story to the fans that Vissing (& Ellis) were going to be in the team for the coming season, not just bits and pieces of the season. Season tickets will have been bought on this basis. The fans deserve answers. Edited July 10, 2022 by uk_martin
IainB
So with the Commonwealth Games being held in Birmingham, just up the road, from Thursday the 28th of July to Monday the 8th of August in the height of the British summer, I assume the Brummies promotion is in full swing in trying to attract along some of the thousands of visiting people in the city and some of the athletes just a stones throw away from the stadium... by holding some kind of spin off Commonwealth Riders Championship, a money spinning meeting to boost the coffers? Oh, hang on... AUGUST Wed 03 - NO MEETING - HOME Edited July 10, 2022 by iainb

Also 2x T20 Cricket matches at Edgbaston Anyone trying to run Speedway that night would deserve certifying. Right decision by Brummies.

Also there will be a lot of road closures in the area whenever the other stadium is in use which would make access to and from the speedway slightly more difficult than usual. A Festival of Sports all laid on across the City with integrated ticketing and supporter zones and you seriously expect anyone to think about speedway? I'd hazard an educated guess that 90% of anyone who has been to Brummies in past 5 years will either attend at least one Event at Commonwealth Games or even be involved in helping it run. Traffic will be a mare before and after. You head must be well past your backside and in your colon let alone deep in the long jump sandpit if you can't see the blatantly obvious. A 2 week orgy of sport that speedway has no part in or place in, would have no medics nor Stewards and probably attract 100 if they were lucky. Clever clubs avoid clashes with big soccer matches. Are you seriously suggesting going up against 100 mrtres finals within earshot of the starting pistol or t20 possibly including England or one of the subcontinent nations. I'd lay 50 quid Laurence Rogers will be attending one of them and having a well deserved night off.

It's good to know that you're so confident in your product at Birmingham that you'll look for almost any clash to avoid running against it As a sporting club bang in the middle of it all Brummies should be part of it all, not hiding away... probably the reason you're struggling to make the end of the season. Even if you're afraid to run on the 3rd, why not the week before, the day before the opening ceremony? Edited July 10, 2022 by iainb

If any sports tried running next door to a once in a lifetime event for the city they would be mad, even Manchester United didn’t play few years ago when the games were at ethid, are you questioning them?? Speedway fan
ROAD SYSTEM IN AREA ALL CLOSED DOWN. As explained Weds Aug 3rd is one of the main athletics events and running against it even if the roads weren't closed would be financial suicide. If you look at the fixtures Birmingham ARE running on Wednesday July 27th v Poole ._and Wednesday is ONLY race day at Perry Barr allowed !! And we are not struggling to make the end of the season . If you're happy for Birmingham speedway to be the best kept secret in town that's fair enough. It is my concern because your failure is a reflection on the sport I love 14 minutes ago, Speedway fan said: If you look at the fixtures Birmingham ARE running on Wednesday July 27th v Poole ._and Wednesday is ONLY race day at Perry Barr allowed !! Running a Commonwealth Games tie in meeting is a no brainer you would have thought... As for whether you make the end of the season, as that's probably going to be the 10th of August, you may just do that one. Speedway fan
we have the British u21 final on 31 August and plans are afoot for more meetings . So what would your suggestion be for this Commonwealth Games tie you think should be run ??
Teromaafan
Checked my bank statement yesterday and there was a debit of £18 referenced ‘Birmingham’ on 7th July and wondered what this was. Turns out it was for the Lions match at Perry Barr (card payment) on……1st June, over 5 weeks ago! Is this a reflection on banking transaction times or slacking on the Brum promotion? If it’s the latter, no wonder they struggling to stay out of the brown stuff.

As for the Commonwealth Games meeting, simple a Commonwealth Riders Championship featuring a line up of British based Commonwealth riders, heavily promoted in the athletes village the night before the opening ceremony, hardly rocket science
