f-s-p
Copypaste from FIM After two very restricted seasons, followers of Long Track can look forward to a full programme of events in 2022 with six Finals scheduled in the calendar now published by FIM. Rzeszow opens the championship in June followed by Mühldorf in July and Scheessel in August. September brings a feast of meetings in Morizes, Vechta and Roden. FIM have also announced the full list of riders for the season which includes the top seven riders from last year’s competition. Current champion Romano Hummel heads the list and is joined by former winners Martin Smolinski, Dimitri Bergé and Lukas Fienhage. Theo Pijper, Chris Harris and Josef Franc are other names that will be familiar to fans. Qualifying from 2021’s Long Track Challenge, Germany’s Max Dilger will join Britain’s Zack Wajtknecht another European Champion, promising Pole Stanislaw Burza and Czech Martin Malek returns at 36 years of age. Permanent Wild Cards for the series will be Kenneth Kruse Hansen strongly tipped by Danish legend Erik Gundersen as a future world champion. He performed well in 2020 with a silver medal but missed 2021 due to an early season injury. Former European Champion James Shanes is also included and is another whose progress has been held back by injury. Finally, Mathieu Trésarrieu, champion in 2017 and four-times bronze medallist returns to the series. Substitute riders to be called on in the event of injury will be • Hynek Stichauer (Czech Republic) who finished 8th in the 2021 Challenge • Gaetan Stella (France) gradually rising in the French rankings • Dave Meijerink (The Netherlands) 21 years old and a promising prospect • Jakob Bukhave (Denmark) Danish Long Track Champion • Julien Cayre (France) 11th in the 2021 Challenge• Tero Aarnio (Finland) extensive speedway experience The curtain opener for the 2022 season will be the Long Track of Nations to be held in Herxheim, Germany at the traditional Father’s Day meeting on May 26th when nine national teams will compete. Provisional 2022 Long Track calendar • TBA-Final-Rzeszow (POL)-PZM • 03 July-Final-Mühldorf (GER)-DMSB • 21 August-Final-Scheessel (GER)-DMSB • 03 September-Final-Morizès (FRA)-FFM • 10 September-Final-Vechta (GER)-DMSB • 25 September-Final-Roden (NED)-KNMV Edited November 19, 2021 by f-s-p
iris123
Blimey. Didn't realise Burza was still riding. But at 44 can he really be described as 'promising ' ? Also surprised Aarnio is still around tbh. Seems like a whole lifetime ago when i saw him at the indoor meeting in Neustadt/Dosse
f-s-p
When I ”started” he won his last U21 title in -04 or something. He’s not going anywhere.
iris123
No I earlier saw he is down to ride in the speedway on ice meeting today. Maybe he will win it or even has won it. Not sure when it finishes

iris123
Good news for North German long track fans, is the return of Jübek Billed as the fastest Long track in the world, disappered from the calendar some years ago after a short attempt by a Danish group to run meetings there. Seems the guy who was boss at local speedway track Nordhastedt has got a group together to start the track up again. He is involved in Flat Track and it looks like that will also be on the calendar. Did see some video on Facebook that they have already done some training. One of the tracks i wanted to get to, but never did. Maybe a chance in the future.....also a couple of months back went through to town of Hechthausen, which was another that i always wanted to get to, but never did https://www.bahnsport-info.de/2021/12/08/msg-juebek-ein-anfang-ist-gemacht/
iris123
Don't suppose we will ever see these days again.....Egon Müller taking all the trophies home
HenryW
They seem to have lost the fence somewhere over the years...presumably that would need to be returned before any spectators could attend events.
iris123
Yes, but looks like a fence is still there for the speedway track at least
Bavarian
A 1000m track like the one at Jübek is a great venue for Flat Track racing. Much better than the tiny 300m track at Nordhastedt, which is just to small and narrow for the Flat Track bikes.

Similar to what I saw at Rzeszow, just too small for the long track bikes that need to stretch their legs.
iris123
After the good news of the return of Jübek, we have news that Mulmshorn might be without a track next year, although local authorities are helping them try to locate a new plot, as they have to vacate their existing stadium because the owner wants to build a solar energy park https://www.rotenburger-rundschau.de/lokales/rotenburg-wuemme/pachtvertrag-gekuendigt-vorerst-aber-kein-solarpark-in-sicht-von-matthias-freese-128521.html
