World U21 championship 2022 GP 2 3rd round Torun Friday September 30th

Timi Salonen is the first Finn qualified or wild carded for the series since 2010 when it became a series.

Nike Lunna was on the reserve list that year when the BV quali rained off after heat 8 or what ever and had the chance to ride in the Gdansk final, but declined.

Niklas Säyriö was picked in the covid-final in 2020 and actually did reasonably well finishing 9th.

Previously Kylmä was in a few final on a SE license. Before him Laukkanen had that fluke in Kaanaa, getting a wild card for the final having not qualified. Still he was one heat win away from the title.

Before Laukkanen, dont think we had any riders in the final since Koponen late 70’s when he won a medal.

Expecting Timi to finish in the top 8 after prelis on a track he’s never ridden before practise. He’s on spanking new rides and quality fresh engines. Beer is in the fridge, I’m ready.

Ah found the right thread now. It's been raining all afternoon in Prague, so if anyone hears tonight's meeting is off we'd appreciate the news. Thanks.

I would think they will give it every chance including delaying the start- someone did say it’s supposed to stop raining around 5pm.

No Brits in this? Surely some of our youngsters are better than many of these young riders! No point in watching it.

Er because they failed to qualify.

Although I think it is fair to say Brennan was in with a shot at a wildcard.

If they were seeded, then probably yes but, unfortunately, had to go through qualifying meetings.

True, but the Brits got a bum deal regarding the draw IMO.The Swedish round was far stronger than the others.

Which again strengthens Brennan's case for a wildcard ( ditto Rew and Hellstrom-Bangs)

Just spent 15 mins looking through and yes, the Swedish round was far stronger than the other rounds. For the FIM to run this series without a single Brit is frankly a disgrace, especially when you consider one of the rounds is Cardiff. Be lucky to get a few hundred there to watch it. Why on Earth not seed one Brit? It’s not as though Brennan for example would be tailed off!

Some of these guys would never be able to hold down a team berth in the Championship.

Obviously we get a WC at Cardiff.

i honestly thought the 3 WC picks would be from Sweden, Brennan, Hellstrom-Bangs, Rew, Basso, all good enough by far for the series

Now live at the track where the sun has come out briefly. Track looks OK considering the rain, just one bloke putting the broom round the inside now. Yes shame no Brits but will be interesting to see the standard of the others.

Further news: Just been announced intros at 19.30, first heat 19.40. Quite a bit of blue sky now so more optimistic than at 15.00. At least the music is good, usually is at Prague.
