Deano
Anyone else enjoy going through old maps and doing some "find the stadium"? Then using the slider to see what's there now? Grachan
I often look through maps online to try and work out where old stadiums were. Never found this site before, so very interesting for me. It must be a first for there not to be something there in it's place.

The speedway shut in the early/mid 60s and the greyhounds shut down in 1969 after problems over the lease with British Rail, who owned the site. There were plans to use the site as part of a redevelopment of the Millwall FC Stadium next door, but they came to nothing, and the derelict New Cross was just demolished.

fatface
Nice work all. I'm a keen runner and have ran past New Cross many times, utterly oblivious to where it was. Same goes for a trail/cross country race in Epping Forest (High Beech) too. Thanks all.
Grachan
The original Swindon track was in a field behind the Dulke of Edinburgh pub in Gorse Hill, which would be roughly where the speedway track shaped housing estate is on the modern view.
