Exeter won in 2000, I think it was quite a few years after the bonus points were dropped.

I know Swindon were unhappy as they had won more matches than Exeter but finished 2nd!

Correct . Another trigger to bring the points system in was after we won the PL in 2001, in 2002 we ended up with the same match points as Sheffield, but lost out to them on actual race points despite us having more wins than them. It was later changed to the new points system, as was fairer to every one and took away the advantage that both Sheffield and Exeter had from their massive home advantages.

It is technically possible to win the league without winning a single away match.

That was in the days of the aggregate bonus point when that was possible

Not really, he’s right, top 6 qualify for play offs, win your home meetings, plus a couple losing bonus points will safely see you into play offs, then beat the teams on agg by scoring more at home than they do:t:

Yes I was forgetting about the play offs . I was thinking more of the year Exeter won the league by thumping everyone at home

Its strange that Sheffield only ever have a home advantage when they have a strong team, when they have a weak team their home advantage disappears, strange that

Yes at Exeter and Stoke. The League and the Cup.

Berwick 43 Sheffield 47….

Nowt tae dae wi us.

If Newcastle had beat us at home then they would have won the league (or taken the bonus point from Berwick).

To many close defeats for us on the road if I remember correctly or Berwick could have been in the running.

Best meeting in 2002 was at Coventry anyway (thanks Kelvin).:drink:

If the last signing is TJ then Berwick are serious dark horses for the title.

Solid 1-7 with no weak links, Strong reserve all season and one of the better British youngsters in the league.

From what I've heard is that TJ will not be riding championship this season only riding for kings Lynn.

Until the first set of averages and someone like Scunny can fit him in maybe?

That can't be the plan as his current Prem ave converted is 8.84, well above his current Champ ave. If he doesn't start 2022 in a Champ team, can't see him signing for anyone mid season!
