Agree Steve. Any fans travelling up from Poole or elsewhere could possibly set off on the Friday and take in that meeting as well, then go on to the SON if they are going there as well. Just book extra accommodation for the Friday.

Financial do da like Leicester running the quarter final tomorrow.......do they honestly think many will bother after Saturday, altho it wasn't Leicester's fault. Scunthorpe had no Adam Ellis and 3 guests as well, glad I never bothered going to that!

I'll be at Poole on Wednesday, finally I'm getting there! yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :D

In fact that's how out of touch they are... instead of riding on Friday and attracting an even bigger crowd for folk travelling up to Manchester they decide to run against the Football & Speedway... If it wasn't so unbelievable, it'd be quite unbelievable!

Didn't the Eastbourne promoter say he was genuinely surprised that fans would rather stay in to watch world class riders on TV rather than attend a speedway meeting live on a Saturday night.....?

Watching a truly World Class level meeting on TV with real kudos and recognition to the winners,?

Or attending a heavily contrived domestic competition with hardly any kudos or recognition to be gained by any victory?

Hmmmmm... Decisions, decisions,....

i think their trying to get the second leg rather than the first leg so they can have the advantage of knowing first match score

usually top team gets 2nd leg

Running out of weeks to ride so wouldn't want to waste 6 days to get second leg in unless Poole rode on Sunday against SoN or waited til Mon/Tues/Weds of next week..

Edit - okay not Mon as Rory has his meeting! Forgot about that!

Scunny should be thrown out of the competition!

They'll cancel a match in the summer because of a football match on the TV... but won't run on an attractive Friday night but choose to run against the SoN that many, including myself, already have tickets for!

Absurd!

Why should Scunthorpe be thrown out of the competition

1~ they fulfilled all there fixtures before the original cut off date and didn’t need the extension

2- Scunthorpe had medical cover and an ambulance for the first leg

So I’m sure it’s Leicester promotion who is at fault ???

please get facts right

Could somebody from (or genuinely close to) the promotion take the time to provide an explanation behind the apparent barmy idea of holding the second leg on Saturday instead of Friday.
The Lions website does say “the second leg has been provisionally set for Saturday” so there is time to reconsider the chosen day and change the meeting to Friday and use tonight’s meeting to inform people accordingly.
Alternatively, they could stick to their guns and lose out on attendance due to SON & LCFC v Man U & of course folk travelling from Poole to Manchester.
But, the promoters may have a very good reason for holding the meeting on Saturday hence the question What is it?

Is that really an advantage, as both teams will know the first match score?

Mentally I think it is, as you actually have a fixed target of what you need to achieve on your home track

How about rider availability - for either side?

It absolutely stinks that Leicester have done this. Saturday and Sunday is SON, so what about the fans who have tickets for Saturday and Sunday at Belle Vue? Why on earth isn’t this meeting on Friday night? What possible reason can they give to wreck peoples plans at such short notice? It beggars belief that they have done this. They could run on Friday, or even Thursday at a push.

Bad promotion.

Leicester City at home as well. It's going to hit the attendance for sure.

Edinburgh v Glasgow. is the only other fixture taking place on Friday - so are you suggesting lack of rider availability for guesting purposes?
Although better still:
It would be ironic if the reason the fixture at Leicester couldn't take place is because riders from Poole and/or Leicester were guesting for Edinburgh or Glasgow.

I really don't think the Speedway of Nations will effect the regular Saturday night crowd too much.

Its not ideal, but to run on a completely off night to accomodate a few who have SON tickets is not viable imo.

It may mean a few watching a recorded SON when they get home, but thats life...its worked for one or two GP's this year, and crowds haven't been that bad.

Personally i've got a ticket for Villa v Wolves on Saturday afternoon and i'm still going to make it to Leicester..guess i've got lucky there with proximaty and timings.

Cannot run on a Thursday! You want Poole to go there without Steve Worrall do you?
