Plymouth Gladiators 2022

I disagree with the majority here regarding Kennett and here's why.

He was rusty at the start of last season due to the 2020 season being cancelled like quite a few riders who didn't ride in Poland in 2020.

He also wasn't being paid for riding in 2021 so I doubt he was that committed knowing full well what the Jordan's were up to.

Eddie also rides Plymouth exceptionally well and home wins are key in this Sport.

Not many teams will get anything at Plymouth next season if they get Barker in as well.

2 track specialists with the vastly improving duo of Lawson and MPT is a sneakily good top 4 that will go under the radar imo

Fully agree, if Edward gets dialled into the Plymouth track, like the last time I saw him there, he will take some passing, I for one am very happy, he signed for next season, i am not a Barker fan, but like you say, he is definitely a Plymouth track specialist, and you can't argue with that, and I'm sure that will be on Garry and Mark Philip's team building thoughts, because winning your home meetings, must be the main priority surely.

If 2021 team building rules are in place?

Plymouth

Richard Lawson 8.51
Michael P Toft 7.33
Edward Kennett 7.19
Ben Barker 6.87
Alfie Bowtell 4.90
Zane Keleher 4.15
Henry Atkins 2*
Total 38.95

I think Barker would be a decent signing on that average, especially how he goes at Plymouth. I'm not a fan per se but you can't deny he's box office at Plymouth.

Don't rate Keleher and thought he was actually quite poor other than a couple of home meetings. Sooner see Ruml back or look at another younger Brit.

I'm guessing Cook will end up at Poole with his brother.

Why would Plymouth sign Palm Toft? He is not a gater and if you miss the gate at Plymouth you are more or less stuffed.

To give them maybe more of a balance on away tracks?

Tracks like Lakeside, Rye House and Eastbourne often seemed to overkill the home small track specialists to the detriment of their away results..

One thing for sure with MPT is that you will get 100%, so any gap, however tiny, will have his bike aimed at it, which will be fun to watch on a tight circuit..

I suppose with a home track advantage type team you keep the home fans happy seeing a winning team, especially back in the day with the bonus point , although a slightly different situation now, even so win all your home matches especially with an 8 + margin and playoffs virtually guaranteed , mind you I think MPT would be wanted at any track and team at the moment.

Looks a useful start to team building, but it’s always harder to judge when you don’t have other teams to compare against.

Lawson should be a genuine number 1 and MPT will provide decent back up home and away. Kennett may be on the way down, but last season there were extenuating circumstances and he comes on a low average. He’s used to riding at number 1, not number 3! Whilst Atkins & Bowtell are both young and on the rise. Neither are progressing at lightning speed but both are gradually getting better and that’s the main thing.
