quite a simple solution. You have 2 UK GPs

open the season in Manchester for us that want to see the best riders in the world strut there stuff. 
 

And in July/august have Cardiff still for them that go for everything the racing. 
 

everyone’s a winner. 
 

ps, I’d go to both 

Goodness only knows my type then, I like both but then experience tells me that you strike pretty lucky if you do get both.

I'm not sure I would do a Belle Vue one if this thread is anything to go by, after travelling a fair distance I want food and drink outlets and in them, readily available toilets..and I would need them after getting off a train etc and before going into a stadium as I always over prepare and allow far too much time to travel as a just in case and my bladder just will not wait for gates to open.

Pure racing and no food places/pubs is all well and good if you live within an hour of the track, it's not so good if you have to travel for several hours beforehand.

Before my speedway time...and my bladder difficulties.

I was 11 the last time it was at Wembley, I didn't even know speedway existed at the time. The only one that could have been feasible was Bradford but I think I was at a gig.

Ah but, you're forgetting something. You'd need two wildcards then. Look at the trouble we had getting one there this year.

Mind you. If they only have to do half a lap each, you could pick anyone.

It does have a little bit. We all knew the rain was coming that evening…if it had been at Cardiff, the roof would have been closed and we’d have had a result. 

I’m not exactly defending Cardiff as it was pretty dire, but if I’d have paid my hard earned on tickets to both the British GP and the British Final, I know which would have annoyed me more.

IMO  the event was saved by Dan winning ,what charming and pleasant young man( imo being groomed to take over from Tai in the Monster setup) with huge future ahead of him barring injury .

The GP will be at Cardiff next year  for many practical reasons and contractual ones as well, I am sure that every effort will be made to ensure that the track stands up better    .What it did highlight was that tracks have to be near perfect for modern bikes to be ridden on them ,the method of riding them means that almost every rider is on the edge as we observed on Saturday .

I was not impressed with the GP  like many others but after some reflection I am grateful no one was injured and it did prove the riders are giving a110 % at GP level ,we can ask no more of them.

I do wonder if Tai time in the GP's is coming to an end he just seems to have  lost that edge needed at this level ,he has made no secret that it is a paying job to him( one he enjoys )but i just feel he needs to really  turn things  around because as they say you make your own luck.

My point was that not all Speedway fans are just interested in the racing and nothing else, some are also interested in the social side, the experience etc and some like both but know that temporary tracks (or even permanent ones, I've been to more bad meetings at permanent tracks than I care to remember) do not always produce great racing but hope that it will be different this time.

Speedway fans come in all shapes and sizes and like different things, it is not one size fits all.

N.B When I do go to Cardiff, it's the one day coach from Ipswich and disabled with a free carer seat which doesn't exactly break the bank and is certainly not a King's ransom. Massive amount of fun on the one day coach even if it absolutely knackering. 

Fine for the tourist speedway fans.  The true speedway fans despise Cardiff.

Get rid of it.

Well as, by your definition, I am a 'tourist' speedway fan, I've given up/dedicated almost 20 years of my life to bring speedway results to the 'true' speedway fans.

As said before, fans come in all shapes and sizes and have different likes and the differing preferences does not make them anymore or any less, a speedway fan.

Mind you, thanks for giving me a hearty laugh so early in the morning.

At BV in 2016 when they had the world team (or whatever is was called then), there was food/drink stalls outside the stadium, and extra food/drink stalls and toilets inside the stadium at the rear of the temporary stands. You can of course bring/buy your own food and eat outside the stadium

For me, Cardiff is probably more about the social occasion than the racing - which is seldom great but has seen some great individual races or meeting results. I go there knowing I will meet up with people, arranged and otherwise as people circulate round the town centre before and after, and the meeting is guaranteed to be on. The atmosphere is also like no other speedway event in UK. The hotel prices are extortionate but so are Manchester’s if there is a big event on. 
The NSS is undoubtedly a better track - in truth probably every track in the UK is better - but there is not the infrastructure let alone the space to support a 10,000 plus speedway event.

When you're sat there for 5 hours in that heat on Saturday,  4-9, you need at least some water/ drinks, can top water bottles up to stop de-hydration. An elderly guy in front of us had to be helped to his seat by a steward and given water. We took sarnies, ate them on the way down from Swindon, in the stop start traffic you always seem to get from before Newport to the tunnel, about 10 miles. We still bought some overpriced rubbish grub in stadium.

The majority of people travel there and back same day, a tiring day, but well worth it. A 160 mile round trip took 5 and a half hours!

I was being, not exactly sarcastic but using the posts that came before that was giving off the impression that nothing was there and there was no need for them anyway as people only go for the racing and have no need to have somewhere to eat and drink. I am aware that there would be some stalls inside and possibly some outside but the toilet would still be an issue with nothing in the vicinity and before gates open for the travelling fan.

Stalls are ok (especially for league meetings) but nothing beats being able to sit inside with a cup of tea, a plate of food with cutlery and a toilet within easy access if you arrive before gates open and especially if the weather is a little dodgy...but then maybe that is just a sign that I'm getting old now.
