Premiership Play-Off Ties CONFIRMED

Recommended Posts

Time to revert to league toppers at the end of the season crowned champions. Old argument but any hint of credibility the playoffs had (if they ever did) has gone totally now. Not a case of 'who dares wins' now, as 'who cares wins'.

What an absolute farce! Surely this completely defeats the object of a full league season?!

When you thought the sport in the UK could sink no lower.

What night you can race on determines the play off fixtures rather than your finishing position.. .. :D

They might as well have cancelled the last few weeks when the four were known and gone straight into the play offs whilst the weather was better...

Would also have meant less headache completing the 2nd Division fixtures and play offs using all the same riders..

I wonder why the sport in the UK doesnt have a big sponsor for the leagues...?

Can't get my head round this at all. Makes little sense for Peterborough (Wolves, IMHO, being the team most likely to eliminate the Panthers' biggest problem, Belle Vue) and no sense at all for Wolves. One of the biggest pluses for Wolves this season has been the form of Sam Masters at No.1, but arguably his one awkward track is the Showground. Conversely, who would entertain the possibility of picking a Monmore date against a side featuring track specialists such as Andersen and Harris?

PS: Could this now be Belle Vue's year?!

Makes perfect sense for Peterborough after the Sheffield match which clearly threw a spanner in their plans. They should be able to beat Wolves over 2 legs on this seasons evidence.

No point in worrying about the final until you get there.

You don't accept the decision of the planning meeting at face value

I wish I could - perhaps I'm just jaded by past experience

I would dearly love to not feel so cynical, disillusioned and mis-trusting of the sport I genuinely love deep down in my heart

I would think so but history shows we dont do well in play offs, time for change perhaps?

Law of averages would suggest that you have to win it at some point! I can remember when BV last won it last in '93, think I was 11. Although if they weren't any playoffs in history then would have won it at least once since then.  So just a bit unfortunate, definitely have to get the little bit of good luck when it comes to the playoffs.

I have no problem with play offs as an extra part to the season…preferably with a good sponsor who makes it worthwhile.

The Champions should be the team at the top of the league…

The Play offs can be the” SPONSOR team play off winners 2021 or whatever

The fact that speedway can't get any sponsor never mind a 'Good' one should tell you a lot about the status of British speedway.

For Sheffield a lot depends on Batch and who is guesting at reserve. Batch hasn't got the Kent meetings to fall back on now, so will be interesting to see how he does!

Would be ironic if BV did win when they are not favourites, considering how many times they didn't win when they were!

Like when Poole cheated them out of it on that wet farce of a night when Hancock lost his dignity?

Yes, presumably Sheffield have influenced the thinking, but I reckon Belle Vue fans have perked up with this news!

Yes law of averages could come into it, but i think it was Preston North End who finally won the play offs at the eleventh attempt, so could have a bit to go yet :)

Even the more sweeter when it happens then! I mean i only had to wait from 1994 to 2003 and i thought that was ages! lol I am a very impatient person though :D
