Poole Pirates Vs Redcar Bears 22nd September

Recommended Posts

Well that was emphatic. But should have been a much bigger victory. Heat 8 and Pirates gate clear on a 5-1 but Ben looked to his left to see his team mate and lifted at the same time, ploughing into the fence. As we all know, a rerun 9 times out of ten gives a completely different result and so it proved with Danyon being clamped on the first bend allowing Redcar to reverse the 5-1 into a 1-5.

The next heat was also a gift with Pirates miles clear until Ben Cook looked like he clipped the curb off the 4th bend, lifted, but somehow managed to stay on. However he went from 2nd to 4th. I guess a bit of luck came our way later in the meeting in heat 13 when King was well clear, and Wright and Palm Toft collided, allowing Schlein through.

Heat 11 was race of the night with Anders Rowe gating in front of Wright. Wright was stalking but King was closing and after Danny sold Wright a couple of dummies up the inside of bend one, going into lap 4 King swooped around him to pass Rowe at the same time to blow the roof off the stadium. One of the best races of the season.

Victory should have been by a bigger margin but Pirates finish top to choose our opponents in the semis. Fingers crossed for Ben who had to withdraw.

For Poole:

Schlein was excellent.

Basso superb until his fall.

Worrall impervious

Cook battled but too slick for Ben tonight.

King top notch.

Rowe did his job with one good ride

Hume battled all night.

For Redcar:
Wright was poor value.

Sarjeant got lucky in heat 8 but was AWOL. (See what I did there)

Allen battled.

Kerr rode well all night.

Palm Tree wasn’t at the races.

Kinsley didn’t fall off.

Jenkins was excellent value all night and deserved his heat 15. Well done to him.

Did Basso miss his last ride in ht 10 suffering the effects of his crash or because Pooles promotion dont want to fork out to repair anymore air fence panels

Basso hurt himself and withdrawn from meeting. He really looked top notch in his first 2 and was leading heat 8. Thought he would have gone through the card tonight. But he went through the airfence instead.

So if noone makes a mistake the score would be different :o

No. What I am saying is giving points away like we did tonight is quite unusual. We were absolutely cruising, then having two misshaps in 8 and 9 when on 5-1s caused us to think someone had run over a black cat.  Perhaps the track is too smooth and we need some bumps in it. :D

PIRATES AV TOPPED THE QUALYFYING! :t:

Well done lads and all on board the Pirate Ship.

Now let's go & do the bizzo.

Couple of trophies to polish! :D

Wouldn’t write off Glasgow or Leicester. Edinburgh shouldn’t be treated lightly either with Rowe and Kemp now in team. Scunny and Redcar are strong at home.

My comment was tongue in cheek, kind of maybe?, but your correct about the other teams. It's going to be an epic end to the season who ever wins. I'm a regular at Leicester as it's my nearest track & my mates are Lions fans so there's quite a lot of banter between us, hope Lions get the other semi spot.

I did see Edinburgh at Leicester the other week and it was a good meeting, do like Josh as he's got a great style and desire to race. You mention Kemp and Rowe but both had an off night that night but hope we don't meet you coz we seem to like to use them at reserve.

Yes Scunny and Redcar, we still sticking the plasters on!

But remember we have Basso on the Gasso who is, yes is, pure class......ermmmm well he's just got to remember to stay on! :D

May the best team win :t:

Open yes but difficult to see anyone beating Poole over two legs, they are so strong at home and win so many heats making it difficult for teams to pull away from them or catch up once behind. Leicester could match them if all of their riders click at the same time.

Ben Basso banged his ribs on his other side to the ribs he damaged in Denmark last week!  The only way he will heal fully is with rest!!

Knew it! Injured riders always land on their injuries. Was hoping not to hurt his ribs even more but that is young riders for you!

Edit - but other ribs too, that takes some doing!
