Aa Danny only rode at number 1 in September, (2 meetings) wouldn't a better comparison be to other number 5's?

King still rode in most Heats 13 and 15.

I might take look at other riders ... be interesting to see how much difference there is in their own averages, in comparison to King.  At a guess, P'boro, despite being champs will have very strange figures - not sure how many times one of their reserves appeared in Heat 15!

EDIT: Just had a look - I'm not sure that P'boro used a reserve in Heat 15 at home - the team management was shrewd enough to utilise the in-form reserve in the heats, where they were most likely to have an impact, e.g. 8, 12 & 14.  Haven't looked at away matches yet.

Bjarne Pedersen was used in heat 15 of the Grand Final at Peterborough for sentiment reasons only ,  Hans Andersen & Ulrich Ostergaard had one heat 15 outing each whilst at reserve in the league matches  i believe , none away as far as i can see as you say Rob Lyon used the reserves away to great effect before ht15 came around

Guy Nicholls continuing to pump his money in. Interesting interview, even though I don’t agree with him on parts of it.

“I think it is our turn to win something. Dare I say it, but it is important to me personally as I’ve been going for years but as a business we don’t come second, we dominate every market we are in”.

Ouch. Well building a team a couple of points below the available limit certainly isn’t going to help your chances

He will be looking for a final lockout of Ipswich  vs Sheffield then.....

He has certainly assisted the Tigers in achieving their part with his backing enabling the building of the pre season favourites

Who could they sign?

So many variables, e.g. availability, desire to ride in GB, and, of course, budget.

This Ipswich 1 to 7 doesn't look to bad now that the majority of the rest of the teams have been confirmed.

That coupled with this is clearly a team that both wanted to be here & is also a team the manager wanted to work with is massive in terms of motivation.

The jury is out but I suspect just like 2019 we'll surprise a few.

In the corners I would say Foxhall is wider than those 2 tracks,,, what it doesn't have is the amount of banking that they do,,,

I finally found the track width info about those tracks (provided by the SCB):

Ipswich:

  • Length: 285 m
  • Home straight: 10.7 m
  • Back straight: 10.6 m
  • 1st and 2nd bends:  16.0 m
  • 3rd and 4th bends: 16.5 m

Redcar:

  • Length: 271 m
  • Home straight: 12.0 m
  • Back straight: 11.0 m
  • 1st and 2nd bends: 14.6 m
  • 3rd and 4th bends: 15.6 m

Scunthorpe:

  • Length: 285 m
  • Home straight width - 15.0 m
  • Back straight: 13.0 mt
  • 1st and 2nd bends: 16.0 mt
  • 3rd and 4th bends: 16.8 mt

Redcar is shorter than Foxhall, and also not as wide on the bends - so any banking must help?  Scunthorpe is the same length as Foxhall, with similar bend widths, so again the banking must help - the extra width on the straights is possibly a factor in enabling different lines into and off the bends?

I've asked the SCB if they can publish this info for all of the tracks.

I disagree & think Ipswich look far the weakest of the 5 completed sides, but everyone is allowed an opinion!

Doyle - arguably the leagues top rider

King - ended last season as No1 and now No2

Batchelor and Riss both started last seasons as No1

Heeps now 5th - last season heat leader

Starke and Rowe both in top 5 at times last season
