RUSSIAN INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL 2, KAMENSK URAL

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 5 & THURSDAY, JANUARY 6

RESULT:

Igor Kononov 14

Dmitri Koltakov 13

Nikita Bogdanov 12

Nikita Toloknov 11

Dmitri Khomitsevich 9

Ivan Bolshakov 9

Vasilli Nesytykh 8

Dmitri Solyannikov 8

Nikita Tarasov 7

Igor Saydullin 6

Ivan Khuzhin 6

Eduard Krysov 5

Saveli Vedyanov 4

Vladimir Fadeev 4

Matvey Volkov 2

Artyom Burmistrov 1

Quite a good stream today, and a multi camera production from the local TV Station. Some good racing today, and the title is still wide open with Kononov, Bogdanov, Solyannikov and Koltakov all in contention. Khomitsevich was unluckly to clip a bale when leading Heat 13, and get disqualified, otherwise he'd be in the points. Final round tomorrow.

Another cracking meeting with some of the new boys upsetting the established stars. Well done to Nikita Bogdanov, another Ufa star gets his chance in the ISG Qualifier. The run off with Khomitsevich showed that Bogdanov can pass and despite losing ground managed to to catch and pass Dmitri.

Please don't ask for a link, as I had a computer crash, when I was checking possible ice racing options for this winter. Subject to there being no or limited restrictions on attending events the Finnish final is proposed at Varkaus on 26th February. Sadly the airport closed a few years ago to passenger flights so would be a difficult journey from UK for us.

Not asked for but Weissenbach, which we have done by public transport, are similarly awaiting details from the Austrian government but seemingly have a plan in place to run if they are allowed the crowd level. I can find no info regarding potential events in Czechia.

The Finnish final IS on Feb 26th at Varkaus until it’s postponed or cancelled for any reason. They are also planning another event earlier in the season, but thats not confirmed AFAIK.

It made me smile a bit reading that a potential ice racing fan cant make it to Varkaus because the airport has closed. It was funny because of the airport, didnt mean to be mean in anyway. When it closed a local Finnair administrator actually became somewhat famous as she continued to work there for a while before her retirement. She was the only one there and had a tv doc and many newspaper reports made of her…

Go to svemo.se and look for isracing and tävlingskalendar and you’ll find about half a dozen meetings to be ridden in Sweden. The big ones are the SM on March 18th and Individual Nordic on March 19th up in the north of Sweden. And of course the wc quali next weekend in Övik.

Weissenbach announced a few weeks ago they wanted to run a meeting in January, haven't seen any info since. They have cold nights it seems.

Czech federation gave up on planning a calendar in front, but will run meetings when it gets cold enough.
