BANDITS v BULLETS @ BERWICK: SATURDAY, Aug 28th

Recommended Posts

Decent meeting. Some good racing, if not a lot of passing. Some heats with two races in one. For a challenge / friendly it was what you expected.

The riders had fun and you could tell there is a bond between them all, as witnessed by the number of times cut out chains were pulled after the races finished.

It could have been easy for the promotion to say 'tough' after the Eastbourne matches were called off and the season tickets holders would have lost out on two matches. But credit where it is due, they looked after their customers.

New format for the racing, where you could give four of your team an extra ride somewhere. It was different. Gives team managers something to think about.

Only positives came out of last night.

Think the format worked quite well (maybe let the team managers choose what number they want the R/R at to give them more options)?

It was something along the lines of the old 6 man teams from the late 90's (remember Ipswich sending out Golob 1 race, Rickardsson the next, Louis the next etc).

1st time at Berwick for some years.  Hardly changed. Quite liked the format. Makes the back end of the meeting, even more competitive and you must have a strong 3/4 riders.

Young Flinty looks a star in the making. I expected not many passes, but the racing was still quite competitive.

Overall, enjoyed it!

Format worked quite well, some of the races where we had two of the Championship and two of the NL team became a bit strung but overall it worked well, and credit to Berwick for at least trying something. Impressed with the progressing Ben Rathbone has made this season.

Much weaker league then though looking at that shabby trio.
