Redcar vs Poole 20/08/21

Recommended Posts

As has been mentioned here and other sources, Havvy didn't use Hume fully, again.

Also, we chose the wrong gates in Ht15. Up to Ht14, gates 1-3 had only produced 5 race winners, while gates 2-4 had produced 9 race winners. Why did we go for 1-3?

About time someone was keeping check on things like this.

When it comes to the play offs, assuming we get there, it is vital we squeeze every last point out each meeting.

Do Poole not have a team manager?

You can't really put the blame at Bens door, he's only just returned from injury. But if you want to throw sticks, they must be aimed at Rory, his tally is knowhere near what you would expect from a heatleader. Basso looks very useful , give him a few meetings to get his feet in the door

Bit unfair, everyone has an off night Starman, Rory has been scoring well all season.

Think Havvy needs to look at the program more later in the meeting and keep his finger on what is happening. Little mistakes Mount up and are the difference between win and lose in a tight meeting. Berwick for example.

We have three away meetings left and Havvy will do two of them.

Do speedway clubs really need to be issuing glossy Curtis Sport programmes costing three quid?

Curtis sports programmes are professionally produced, downside is the more clubs that use them the more the programmes become very samey in their content & structure from club to club. Clubs kinda losing a bit of their own identity. Why can't clubs use a local print company?

You av a choice, pay for one or simply draw up ur own race sheet if that's your requirement.

For me I always buy a programme and Redcar's, altho Curtis Sports, is a damn sight better now than the 1970's effort from a couple of years ago!

Have I gone off topic a bit!

Like you, I always buy a programme. As you say, Curtis Sport do a very good job. Redcar's 2021 issue is much better than the Cleveland Park era programmes used to be!

I'd say £3, as a percentage of the admission fee, is on the expensive side. Not so bad if you're paying proportionally more to watch, say, Scottish Premiership football or Super League rugby league.

Certainly agree about the big downside: generic programmes lack individuality.

Interesting that, for example, Scunthorpe include their programme - a basic eight-pager - with £17 admission. Used to be sold separately.

The price and production of matchday programmes depends on each individual club's revenue opportunities.

Some clubs only have  revenue from admissions, programmes, advertising and sponsorship. No food, beverage or parking revenue as in Poole.

Just a point about Rory - he's not getting any younger and last night was his 4th meeting in 5 days as well as getting ready to move back to Oz.

I hope tho when it comes down to the play offs he's fully focused & bikes are up to the job.

But that's the same for all the Pirates and between now and then it still matters as top 2 is the aim.

C'mon Rory one last push! :t:
