BERWICK v PLYMOUTH (Saturday 14th -- 7pm)

Recommended Posts

Good meeting last night, great to see 2 speedway legends in action, both classy, good to see Crump getting his win in ht15, got better all night, and great after the race giving the goggles to a kid and spoke well in interview, hope Bjarne sticks around for a year or two as he’s still a top top rider, of the rest Hume was disappointing compared to previous weeks, Keleher and Ruml showed glimpses, Cook and Edwards poor, Solid from the Bandits throughout, Jye done very well after his injury, looked a complete different Jye to what we’ve seen this season, Summers done well early doors before his usual poor one in ht13, Leon made a great pass on Crump after lining him up in ht9, Bickley had a good night making a couple of good passes as well, Bandits riders starting to use the inside of b2 l1 well, getting used to the track changes, hope Kasper is all okay after withdrawing, rest up and hopefully be alright for Kent on Tuesday, probably the best racing i’ve seen this season at Berwick, and also a decent enough crowd considering it was Plymouth

Considering it was Plymouth? Maybe there's still a lure to see Crump?

Definitely, Plymouth last night very much a 2 man team, some good races, personally IMO last week's meeting was more entertaining,as already said Crumpie gave a young lass his goggles and got her photo taken with him class.Hope Kaspers ok for the away meetings, Jyes best meeting of the season hope he's not to sore this morning.

Very impressed with the two lads in the 250cc races after the meeting, both good styles and times very similar to the 500cc races.

All in all a good night, crowd was better than I expected, given that you don't expect many to travel up from Plymouth. Maybe Crump and Pedersen drew a few in? Probably the most passing I've seen in any meeting this season.

Second half meeting a bit one sided but definitely the way to go, giving all age ranges and machine sizes a go. From the 125's through the National League into the Championship, impressed with the way Berwick have a pathway for any young riders now.

I got in the car park last night and went “wow”. That was definitely to get a look at crumpy and Bjarne. They may be in their 40s but they still pull the crowds.

Anyhoo, definitely the best meeting there’s been this season and that’s huge credit to Plymouth too who played their part. Crumpy improved as the meeting went on following a shocking gate in heat 1, Bjarne was solid and Ruml is definitely a handy one. Keleher and Cook looked very shaky, thankfully Danyon Hume was significantly down on his scoring of the last 2 weeks although was always looking competitive; Jason Edwards was just not on the pace.
For us, whether it was because Plymouth struggled or what, but that is the best we have looked all year. There were lines to be used and our lot used them.. Leon certainly didn’t look hampered by moving to no.3.. and where on earth has that Jye been all year… superb! Was good to see kasper walk away from his heat 2 spill.. did I hear right the problem was his groin area?

If we can keep that momentum up on Tuesday and Wednesday I hope we can at least be entertaining. I’m not being optimistic as it’s hope that kills me… my pessimistic attitude is better as if we do well then happy me is a lot easier to live with then miserable me

And a final Note… I always thought Jason Crump was God… my childhood speedway idol… the man continues to ooze class after all these years :approve:

Probably the most enjoyable meeting so far this year. Only on three occasions there wasn’t a “from the gate” comment on the updates.

A very good night out for a healthy holiday attendance -- at least partly attracted by Jason Crump's presence -- with excellent racing.

Heat 9, when Leon Flint swept round tac-sub Crump on the final bend, was maybe pick of the litter but there was passing in the majority of heats.

Jason's interview, and reaction with the audience after his Heat 15 victory, emphasised what he said about "still having fun" and certainly added to an all-round feelgood feeling.

Even after the main match, the future at Berwick looked pretty good, with their six-rider Academy team racing Redcar at 500cc, 250cc and 125cc level, and winning a slickly-run 9-heater by an astounding 45-9!

All done and dusted by 9.20, leaving time for Bullets' Ben Rathbone to put in some practice laps before the curfew.

Doomsayers take note -- speedway is far from its deathbed to judge by Saturday night!

Really decent entertainment. Out on the boards, using different lines and watching 2 legends of the sport all in 15 heats. What’s not too enjoy. Jye was on song after his bad smash , Leon is getting better and better at home each week and Kyle seems to have found his mojo in the last few weeks . To cap it off the second half was enjoyable. Theo’s boys look to have a real future . Well worth the admission fee in my opinion . The team seemed stronger in the new number line up. Gotta be a positive .

Looking forward to seeing Crump and Pedersen at Berwick. Bowtell seems to be riding ok, apart from Edwards will probably be first time at Berwick for the rest. Bandits to win this 52-38

Mile out :D:D
