Can’t make it on Tuesday but would be in favour of a Trust system like Edinburghs as long as it was run by the right people and was sustainable in the longer term, Count me in.

Hope those who offer don’t take the p@ss out of the fans........

I’m sure if we put How.I.Ever.Passed.My.CPC in charge of selecting trustees then we will be fine, he appears to be an expert of smoking out promoters who take the p@ss out of the fans yet provides zero evidence.

If you want the info on your CPC qualification I can give you the info & promise not to take the URINE

Hi

what is the trust system and how does it work?
Thanks

In its basic form…it will hold money (donated by fans) for the purpose of the speedway club. The speedway club can request funds and must give a purpose and sufficient rationale for the funds. The Trust can also have a say in what the funds are to be used for.

Is it?

Well that's one idea? Hopefully you will be at the meeting and your proposal can be put to the vote...

A trust can be set up in whatever way the initial contributors, also know as the settlers, decide, by way of a trust deed. Thereafter, the trustees have the sole power to ensure that monies are spent according the deed. The deed should say how trustees are appointed and how they can be removed.
So, the above comments really only define how a supporters’ club operates but could also apply to a trust as long as that is how the deed is written.

So is this trust fund for Newcastle speedway here and now? Or is it for later to put towards a new venue, which really is no longer needed as Newcastle speedway has not closed and is still running at Brough Park.
Thanks

As I said earlier nothing is off the table and everything will be open to debate... there is more than one idea floating around out there on how we should move forward and ultimately if this gets off the ground how it will work and where it will go will be decided upon by the majority... you will need to come to your own view on that and see if you support it... we are if nothing else a democratic society...

Newcastle has been saved by Rob for the moment however there are issues surrounding the venue that are well known... the sport is in difficulty for various reasons... and Rob has new backing for now but what happens if that position should change...

We all got one almighty scare after the Birmingham meeting as the club had technically gone and an awful lot of fans wanted to do something... anything... that might throw the club a lifeline... what happens if we end up in the same position two or three years down the road...

So will it just be a beefed up fan club... a trust with firmer guidelines... a charity or charitable trust to save on paying tax on donations or will it be something different again that offers the sport a future for years to come... or do we do nothing and trundle on as we always have done with the Sword of Damocles hanging over our heads...

Attend the meeting air your views... see what is said and what the proposals are and see if there is anything you feel you could sign up to.... there is no pressure either way... nothing ventured nothing gained...

Regards

THJ

If it isn’t then please enlighten. I know Trusts can operate differently pending on circumstances and wishes etc.

Unfortunately I won’t be there, I would like to, but I live in Glasgow, so logistics would be an issue, especially when the bar is within easy reach lol.

I am keen to donate and contribute, and I am on all the necessary social channels for the club and look forward to hearing the next steps and outcome from the meeting.

Keep up the good work THJ

Is it a bit like taking painkillers?,,, it doesn't fix the problem, it just relieves you from the pain?

I'd totally disagree that a new venue is not needed, it's desperately needed, but would guess its not financially possible atm, a new venue would open up many new revenue streams for the club

The best thing to take the club forward by backing rob & all others involved is to dig deep into our pockets ( to what people can afford ) as we are well aware of covid & furlough coming to an end which may cause job losses .. & do the best we can to help our club of 92 years survive..

and adding to that, there's the folk with little dependents seeing the 'Marcus Rashford ice-cream money' coming to an end.
