You can't get a lot for £10 these day Gav! And the problem is seeing it as 15 minutes of entertainment, it's much more than that. Someone posted on this forum the other day how the pub would then be 15 minutes of drinking. It's about the whole night out.

Family of 4 would pay £35-40 at most championship clubs considering kids are usually £1 or something. Not many places you can take kids that cheap.

The biggest stumbling block is the rented tracks. They're the ones that seem to be struggling the most.

£35 to £40 is good value fo a family of four however, the vast majority wont do it more than once a month, at most, as more often and it becomes far too expensive as you add on the "extras" of food and drink..

Many seem to equate a night out at the Speedway to a night at the Cinema or TP Bowling however, again, they wont do this regularly, but as a "treat"...

And by definition you are then regarding a night at the Speedway as pure entertainment rather than a "sport"..

With the other issue then of course being that clubs are trying to, and are dependant on, fans becoming emotionally attached to the club...

Yet they choose to run an operating model that can never encourage it...

The sport is simply knackered by self inflicted nonsense isnt it?

Any future for Newcastle or any other club can't be based on getting more people through the gate. That's the easy way to losing money.

Base your budget on this seasons attendances deduct rent and expenses and pay the riders what remains. If that isn't viable then it's a shame but close down.

It’s interesting the just before Covid-19,the major Cinema Chains slashed its admission prices to £5.99 (half -price)because of falling attendance level and now they are thriving again.I agree that £30/40 is value but like you say no many will afford it every week.Speedway is a £18-£20  sport purely because of riders pay demands that can be resolved IMO.

Agree base your budget on the worst attendance and have a large pot of money to lose .

Who owns the stadium these days? What’s the estimated rent at Newcastle?
It is too good to lose to the sport but we need sustainable costs. You don’t need rocket ships to make for good racing and it is about time we did a reset and doing something about it.

Taken off Facebook:

This Sunday not only marks the final home meeting for the Diamonds of their 2021 Championship campaign, but also what is now looking ever more likely to be the Diamonds final ever meeting at Brough Park.

Official Birmingham Speedway are our guests this Sunday as we reach the climax of the 2021 season.

We aim to see as many people as possible pack out the terraces at Newcastle this Sunday, as we would love to give our 'Brough' the send off it deserves.

It goes without saying that this is not how we wanted to end our season, however if this does turn out to be the last time the Diamonds take to the tapes then we feel its important to give our loyal fans something back.

So, to honour this, after the closure of heat 15 we would like to give everyone at Brough on Sunday evening the chance to walk round the track.

We appreciate that this is going to be an emotional night for all involved and everyone here at Diamonds HQ continues to pray for Newcastle's survival.

Tickets for Sunday can be purchased online now at https://www.trybooking.co.uk/BFQF or via the turnstiles on the day

As an extra special treat why not indulge in our VIP Diamond Experience. It’s the perfect way to watch the Diamonds with the added bit of luxury. All you have to do is book online, it’s as easy as that. Hope to see you there

Why can’t stuff be posted on the website when it happens? It pisses me off as it’s pure laziness, 90% of your audience don’t do social media.

Let's be honest the stuff that gets posted on social media is shocking anyway. Zero effort put into it. It's a crying shame because there's so much potential there. Glasgow have 20k Twitter followers, Newcastle have 5k. That doesn't always translate into crowd numbers but it's better to have them than not.

Bet there's no mention of the club's impending doom on look north :( But every single football team in the north east will get mentioned though!!

Too little too late either way... Never got a mention before... Bet most people in the area havent even heard of speedway before...

They will probably (hopefully) say something on Friday night's Look North.
