Speedway fan
BIRMINGHAM will resume their 2021 season next week. The Brummies will return to action with the second leg of their Knockout Cup tie against Redcar at Perry Barr on Wednesday, July 7 (7.30).With talks ongoing with Birmingham City Council and Perry Barr Stadium management regarding potential walk-up admissions, supporters are strongly advised and urged to purchase their tickets in advance via https://www.trybooking.com/uk/eventlist/speedway.Any supporters who struggle to purchase tickets online are encouraged to ring 07544 294420 with staff members available to help over the telephone.Co-owner David Mason said: "We are desperate to get things back up and running at the very first available opportunity and that will be on Wednesday, July 7 with the visit of Redcar."It goes without saying it's still a far from ideal situation but we can assure supporters we are doing everything within our power to try and make sure we can crack on with the season."We said we wanted to be back at the start of July if other outside factors allowed and whilst we wish we had a clear-cut decision regarding walk-up admissions, we need to try and get things going again."We can't stress enough though how we need every single person's support and backing because this really is a testing time for us."We've said before how we need healthier crowds on a regular basis at Perry Barr and we don't want to be the people at the helm who oversee any sort of demise."The Birmingham supporters are fantastic; they're loyal, they're enthusiastic and they get behind their team."We know there are so many more out there though who don't come as often as they used to - and while, of course, we appreciate how hard everything is for people at the moment, now is the time to get everyone back on the terraces."Work has been continuing behind the scenes and as a club we feel we're as ready as we can be at this moment in time."We had Dixie Dean (track curator) down on Sunday and he spent all day working on the track."Everyone knows we encountered a few problems on opening night but it looks and feels a lot different after all the hard work he's put in and from here on in it should only improve week-by-week."We've been keeping the boys in touch with everything that's been going on and as I'm sure you can imagine, they're just itching to get back to it."Yes it's a job for them but they genuinely believe that as a group they can achieve something this year and they are keen to make the rest of this season one to remember for all of the right reasons." Yearbyred
Let’s hope there is a big crowd, a prompt start time, a decent track, good racing and justice prevails and the Bears go through.

Hopeful yes but my big fear is that the cruel world of Speedway will ensure none of those things happen
tyretrax
Question for Speedway fan. Is there a reason for the yellow highlights and the spacing?

GiveusaB
I think we need to rethink about this fixture??? Possible that England could be in the semi final?

Thats besides that it should have been awarded to Redcar in the first place.

Lefty
Why not start the meeting at 10:30pm? The sun will have gone down by then and track grading can be completed for then (possibly?). If the football goes into extra time then a 30 mins delay will be easy for most fans to accept. Might have to cancel the second half though.
Boothers
For goodness sake Birmingham do the right thing and concede the KOC to Redcar, at the moment you are just taking the mick and embarrassing everyone associated with the sport. Yearbyred
Now I know why the thread title didn’t state it was July 7th 2021, best to leave it open given how things have been going. Obviously the right decision but as others have said a bit of forward thinking would have prevented the further messing around of Redcar fans planning to attend in particular. Cynically I wonder if Riss’s Injury played a part in the decision too. So we await yet another new date for a fixture that shouldn’t have been re-run anyway.
mikebaker
Birmingham Speedway , you are a complete joke. I have wasted a days holiday for a meeting that should of not have been re-staged. When you call the club on the phone number they have give. You are greeted with a voicemail. Very professional.
