Scunthorpe have left a blank at #7 in their team notification

The other week there was a pairs meeting where Kemp, Rowe & Gilkes were involved. The following day there was a Championship meeting where Kemp rode(he flew back) & Gilkes didn't(he drove back) as didn't want to mix with others. Wasn't Kemp quarantined (self isolate) shortly after.

pretty sure we could use a 3* reserve if needed, could we tempt Ryan Kinsley to do it if needed?

Scunthorpe’s ‘Team Rising Star’ rating is 2* (see the Green Sheet) , restricting the Club to a 2* or 1* guest if needed.

And then we had Plymouth who used a 3 star rising star in Leon Flint to replace a 2 star rising star in Henry Atkins !!!

Our initial declaration was only 35.26 so it gave us the option to use a 3* or lower but we had already committed to using Palin in 2020

Plymouth's first declaration totalled 37.39 so they could declare a 3* rider or under and their 'Team Rising Star' grade is a 3*, so using Flint is quite acceptable.

Scunthorpe's grading appears to be incorrect on the latest GSAs ( Issue 5) and indeed on Issue 4 - their 'Team Rising Star' grade was a 3* at first declaration so should remain so

The relevant SR is: 012.3.1. Rising Star Regulations – to be inserted on page 112 of 2020 SRs:
Rising Star riders can only compete in 2 leagues at any one time.
Premiership teams shall declare their initial 1-7’s with a Rising Star rider at reserve and will conform to the following points limitation;
1-6 Total average of 35.50 points maximum and will declare a 4* rider or under.
At the commencement of the season, the Rising Star must ride at reserve (No. 6 or 7), at the Team Managers discretion.
Upon the issue of Match Averages, the Rising Star riders Team Position will be determined as per SCB reg. 012.3 (Team Line-ups).
Championship teams shall declare their initial 1-7’s with a Rising Star rider at reserve and will conform to the following points limitations;
1-6 Total average of 38 points or less will declare a 3* rider or under
1-6 Total average of 39 points or less will declare a 2* rider or under
Rising Star riders will remain so for the entire season and can only be replaced in a team declaration by a rider equal to the teams star rating or less at the initial Team Declaration.
Rising Star riders, who as per SCB reg. 012.3 (Team Line-ups), shall move into a team’s 1-5 will be subject to SCB reg. 012.4 (Facilities).
In the event a Rising Star is absent, with a facility permitted, he can be replaced by;
i. any guest rider from the Rising Star list, of that teams initial permitted Team Declaration rating or below, or
ii. Rider Replacement,
at the Team Managers discretion.
Rising Star riders shall compete with a special riding number design denoting they are a Rising Star.

I see it has changed due to the re-declaration to bring in Ellis but what if scenario occurred where a teams initial declaration was under 38 & using a 3* "Rising Star". The team then perform well taking their combined average to around 40. They then get a rider injured (5.50 CMA) who has to be replaced.

Who do they then replace him with?

A 5.50 rider but keeping the 3* RS?

A 4.50 rider but have to also change the RS to 2*

You are correct 'ScunnyDan' - I was looking at the latest GSAs (Issue 5) which seems to be incorrect.

It shouldn't change when Ellis joins, the SR states that the 'Team Rating' relates to the initial declaration, not the latest one.

It seems that, despite the rule I quoted above, Scunthorpe's Team Rating was reduced to 2* when Ellis' inclusion took the team average above 38 but under 39.

Blimey..

Four lads racing around a speedway track for four laps....

And it becomes filled with all sorts of nonsense..

Nonsense that every season results in teams miles apart points wise who supposedly started 'quite even' using the nonsense criteria..

So, going by 1 of my previous posts, if we had a 3* rider he would of had to be replaced otherwise we could not sign Ellis.

If, also, we had started poorly or average & not increased our team average by 0.56 so the rules are ignored, too complicated or misinterpreted. Such a simple sport.

(Crumps average decreased for2021 compared to 2020, Cook's use of May average even though he rode in May & was due a new average from 1st June & signed in June, Redcar issue with postponed fixture but ruling not applied to previous years, and the list goes on ...........)
