ch958
how does this work then? Do Redcar get a fee to put this on? Who pays the riders? Can Redcar make any cash out of it if 300 turn up?
Ringitsneck
They get a token fee towards the running costs, the riders get minimum place money , not points money, they don’t even get a tyre supplied and if 300 plus turn up they should make a few pennies, just. The Redcar promotion have always supported the youngsters even if it costs the club a few bob. Pity other clubs don’t.
Popular Post jduffill
As things stand, about 130 will be turning up which will certainly be a loss to the club, something we expected would be the case. However, we are very happy to do our bit for British Speedway - that is important to us, but we obviously couldn’t do this regularly, which is part of the reason we opt not to run NDL. Very much looking forward to this event and we are proud to be hosting. It should be a fantastic meeting! Perhaps some clubs don't because they can't afford to take "the hit"?

Not sure anyone can afford to take the hit right now

Yearbyred
Don’t normally attend these meetings but making an exception for this one. Be a shame if it costs Redcar money given the circumstances.
Sings4Speedway
Decent line up actually with just two non NL riders, several CL riders on show in fact any mistakes from any of that 6 could see them not make it through. Kyran Lyden gets his chance which is deserved but slightly odd that Alex Goldsborough is reserve when he featured in the first semi?
soupy
Will be coming down from West Northumberland for this one.Good Luck to all riders and a safe meeting.

Goldsbrough is local and probably won’t get a ride and is highly unlikely to qualify so no problem, or do you expect a rider to travel just to stand in the pits and not get a penny towards his travel and running costs ? Lyden also rode at Mildenhall so how is he more deserving ?

Only Glasgow but they are more business orientated so don’t offer to run these type of meetings. Good on Redcar I say , their owners believe in supporting the youth or, as we are now threatened with at Brough, there’ll be no tomorrow ! Of course it makes perfect sense the reserves are always largely local riders prepared to turn up and take the chance to get a few laps if they can and certainly no personal issue with Alex although id argue that jack should be first reserve and Alex 2nd as he has already had a chance but that really is splitting hairs over an U21's meeting. Lyden to be fair took his turn at reserve, didn't get a full program of rides and still scored similar to a few others.

Goldsbrough was the original reserve at Mildenhall, so your original post was splitting hairs. As for ‘ reserves can’t qualify ‘ .what is the sense in that if it is an actual rule ? As long as he rides no more than the others his points should count towards his position in the field.
Sings4Speedway
Have to agree reserves have every right to qualify possibly more so. If Alex, Lyden or any other reserve scores enough points to qualify they should be through and applauded for doing so. So if X rider falls in their first ride and Goldsbrough takes the remaining 4 rides, and wins them all who is going to break the news that he isn't allowed to qualify
