Don't know, didn't click on the link,

what is it?

A virus or something else?

Or are you expecting everybody to play Russian roulette, by clicking on random links and hope it's not a virus.

I clicked the link and so far nobody has died. It is a link to UK research and innovation website which gives details of funding given to a company called P Mason engineering to develop a new 500cc engine for Speedway/ grass track etc. use.

why develop an engine when it will not be required in the next 3 years . speedway is finished  ,as are most motor sports .

it may have a use  tho . Briggs n Stratton may use it in their lawn mowers. it will get the grass cut in half the time .

Would you like to explain why you think most motor sports are finished?

Sorry to have scared you lol

You're not going to get a virus by clicking a link, you'll only get one if you download and install a program or open a document that it's encouraging to do.

the bug (covid) will return big style and fans/supporters will get cheesed off .

normal rallying has all but finished . only big events run. mx are finding it hard to find land for tracks . road rallying  is finished . speedway is pricing itself out of joe bloggs pocket .

there will not be young uns to carry on the support for most forms of sport . councils grabbing council tax . when you have paid your mortgage , you will still another one to donate money to like it or not .

so we all ask for extra money at our place of work cos we are find it hard to live and that puts the price of their product up  . big circle !

lots of workers are in working poverty . there is no way out . yep , speedway is all but gone . look @ the premier teams line ups and compare them to the championship line ups . almost the same  .but life goes on , sort of .

just my way of looking at things .  right or left !

But what about these engines?

It's a bit of a mystery isn't it?

Looking at the company's website it appears that they are a subcontract engineering company offering CNC milling and turning services rather than being a design authority.

I guess you will have done the same but doing a Google search, nothing comes up at all about this company and a speedway engine other than the page that you linked. I would be interested to know more about it and you would have thought someone in Speedway circles would have been involved and/or know something about it?

The only 2 relatively recent "new" engines I can recall are the ones that Lee Richardson was using when he first rode for Coventry, which is way too early for this and the ones Adam Skornicki was riding when he made his comeback for Wolves, which I think would be too late for the 2010-11 date.

I know Godden have been dabbling for a while and then there are the GTR's but they're not British.

Nobody mentions the type of fuel used though with it being high compression I expect it to be methanol. British speedway needs an inexpensive reliable home grown billet engine hopefully emulating the Weslake that may encourage younger riders to give Speedway or Grasstrack a try. I am surprise it has not been tried before though with engines of differing capacities and fuel could make the project commercially viable. Good luck to the investment organisation/company hopefully it may see the light of day.

The HONDA trial was in 1998.

They never really got off the ground because they had to lob off the gearbox. That seems to be the unique element of a speedway engine. The biggest problem is the lack of manufacturing capacity in the uk and the costs involved for a bespoke product would be horrendous.
