I read he was having panic attacks before the Ippo meeting. I don't know if it was true i must add. But wish him well. If this is true and hes lost his nerve then he needs to quit the sport fairly quick before he hurts himself with over cautious thinking on track. ive seen it happen to a few riders and they never get their nerve back unfortunatly.
speedwaysliders
The speedway merry - go- round has already started!! I have to say after rattling off 3 wins in the first match of the season to finish with 11,to be let go the next match seems very harsh on Cook,IE Already splashed out cash for new machinery etc for the new season and hes out after the second meeting!!! ...... But as i say the speedway merry go round has started,so what are the odds Cook turns up at Sheffield instead of Holder?!!!

stevehone
anyone think this was a financial decision based on crowd levels and the possibility that things won't open as planned?

If it is the case. And i say if, because until we hear from either Cookie or someone in the know, we can't be sure. But Cookie has been honest before regarding his health. We will have to see if it's the same with Glasgow i guess. Craig is a quality rider, and if it is the case i wish him a speedy recovery.

Not sure Steve. The crowd didn't look bad. Id guess 13-1400.Certanly as good as the crowds before Robert left. It didn't look like the crowd restrictions made any difference to me .No Robert would have saved Buster a good bit this season i would of thought. Now we have to sign another rider because we are even weaker now. Edited May 28, 2021 by Bald Bloke

Sings4Speedway
Citing Richards good attitude and not working as a unit i suspect there was various amounts of winging from those who are supposed to be leaders in the team? Fans will put up with underperforming riders far longer than they will those who clearly aren't trying.
old bob at herne bay
Wouldn't get too hung up on riders averages in 2021. Anyone with a 2021 starting average of less than 8, is not a heat leader IMO (averaging 4 second places a meeting ) Very few clubs have "heat leaders" such is the diluted product that is now the post pandemic premiership (PPP)

To much being made of his tweet last week, so he admitted to being nervous, who wouldn't be, he won his last 3 rides for goodness sake.
scotty2hotty
Trouble is with Cookie, he openly admits he hasn't been on a bike for 18 months, whilst many many others have been practising whenever they can to keep match fit. Whether he thought he would just carry on where he left off in 2019, I don't know, but its pretty naive to think he will just jump on the bike and be just as good. Last night at Lynn, he seemed completely dis-interested, pulling up at the back etc. A club cannot afford to carry a number one like that, you have to at least win at home most of the time, to keep the fans coming back. We have so few meetings this year, there isn't really time to carry anyone, particularly your star man.
stevebrum
The fact that it was by mutual agreement means something is up by one or both parties. Given that Lawson was confirmed less than 24 hrs later just goes to show this was all probably known before the meeting started. No point speculating, I’m no Cook fan but I hope he is ok.

Especially in a league of only 6 teams and 3 of them being owned by 1 person. 10 hours ago, stevebrum said: The fact that it was by mutual agreement means I've not read that it was by mutual agreement anywhere, the KL press release just said he'd been "released" 1

John Scrutton
I think that the door will still be open to Craig to return to Lynn if he wants to and can get over this trouble he is feeling
