Leicester Lions 2021

Well the SpeedwayGB website (Championship table page) clearly states:

PLAY-OFF PICTURE - HOW IT WORKS
- League Championship to be decided by play-offs (All play-off ties raced over two legs)

Any the wiser? Me neither?

A member of the management team said individual events do not pay!

If the sport could attract decent Sponsors for Individual Meetings they would pay,but the sport is Mickey Mouse these days,in the Past there were some decent sponsors in the sport.

What a very sad state of affairs we've arrived at.

One wonders if sponsors are even being approached for such opportunities

Think if you asked any promoters they will tell you the same fan's do not attend in numbers like they use to. Which is sad. So you would have to have big sponsorship Which is not there.

Still think that a major season long individual event ran with qualifiers at every track funnelling down to two semis and a Grand Final would be worthwhile..

All the promotions put in a certain amount and generate a large prize fund and then promote their own meeting off the back off it..

They pay out tens and tens of thousands every week as a collective, which works out to hundreds and hundreds of thousands every season, for hardly any recognition from even those who live on their 'doorstep' locally, never mind within a radius of 20 miles or so...

Advertising some 'shock' prize fund for a sport many won't even have heard of and you may just get some notice taken..

Wouldnt cost any more than they pay now either if they all agree to budget for this prize fund...

And by running such a big individual competition, with a 'big prize' at the end of it, you can then promote your own club off the back of it when running your own meeting within the overall competition...

It does seem crackers to keep paying out huge sums in reality for zero development of the sport..

No meeting on a Saturday night in the middle of July is a sad indictment of our "sport"... not just at Leicester but any track in the whole country

Was it not originally Cardiff SGP date?

Yes it was... but that was cancelled in April

So... you just want clubs to continue to run meetings at a loss during the "restricted period", rather than wait until things are fully open after 19th July?

No, I don't want any club to run at a loss. Not every track in the whole of the UK is running at a restricted capacity level that would mean a loss. Why on earth any of those clubs hasn't put a fixture on, on a midsummer Saturday night, shows what a state the sport is in.

Maybe you're right, they should continue to run midweek meetings in front of a few people.

And the fixtures came out in February.

In the past, how many meetings have run on the Friday, Saturday & Sunday of the British GP weekend?

Pairs at Somerset? 4's was due to be on the Sunday at Leicester last year. Obviously nothing on the Saturday.

Everybody has had 3 months to organise an event of some sort somewhere... yet nothing
