Leicester Lions 2021

Recommended Posts

1 Ryan Douglas 8.59
2 Zach Wajtknecht 5.27
3 Kyle Howarth 6.99
4 Josh Auty 7.34
5 Nick Morris 8.41
6 Dan Thompson 2.00
7 Joe Thompson 1*

Does Zach Wajtknecht still do speedway? Or is he focussing on Longtrack... This could be an interesting team to watch and Josh Auty is the obvious signing... Only other options I can think of is tempting Victor Palovaara, Claus Vissing or Nico Covatti back to the country? Which I'm not sure is possible in the current situation

Ellis Perks was back on a bike not long ago, has he got his equipment sorted/ready to go again? Straight swap Ty Proctor for Ellis Perks maybe? Would fit nicely

1 Ryan Douglas 8.59
2 Ellis Perks 6.40
3 Kyle Howarth 6.99
4 Josh Bates 6.05
5 Nick Morris 8.41
6 Dan Thompson 2.00
7 Joe Thompson 1*
    38.44
    0.56

I know everyone is going to tell me why these changes can't happen, just having a bit of fun speculating... :t:

Wasn't Palovaara the rider they tried to sign mid-way through the 2019 season, but because he was owned by Glasgow & they were the main rivals for the title, they refused to give permission for the move, so maybe he's one they could be looking at again. Travel might be an issue though, like you say. The new signing really needs to be completed by 1st of July, because Proctor's average falls from  6.84 to 5.42 on that date, so they will lose 1.42 on a like for like swap after that date. Perks would fit nicely if he could be tempted back.

Are the twins involved in the young Lions (national level) at all does anybody know?

All I ever hear about are the Kemp, Palin, Rowe, Flint etc.

I've never seen the twins wearing national garb

The twins are involved with Team GB and Young Lions but with riding for a Saturday home track and having already had away matches at Scunthorpe,Berwick and Newcastle over weekends hence they have not been involved in any meetings on the continent.

I think it’s fair to say that in their first season of professional racing they are doing well but are probably a bit behind the more experienced riders like Kemp,Flint and Rowe so when limited places are allocated in meetings then places go to these riders.

Yeah,  I get what you're saying about them being lower down the pecking order due to inexperience,  I just wondered whether they were involved in the boot camp things that GB Speedway run.

So far I think they've been the shining light of Leicester's season... long may it continue!

The comments suggest to me that he is only looking to find a replacement for Proctor and not a double change.

if rumour's are to be believed and they bring in hans anderson then i am sure there will be a double change.

Loving this rumour if it turns out to be true. What average would he come in on, his PL average x 1.4? If so it leaves less than 4.0 for a double change. Dan T would not let us down if a re-shuffle moved him out of the reserve berth (which will happen sooner rather than later anyway).

Isn't the conversion rate, PL average x 1.5.

If a double change was made, then Anderson could come in with someone else. Maybe Jake Knight? 2nd highest average in NL and scored a max against the Cubs earlier in the year.
Anderson’s average would be around 8.6.

Looks to me if the plan is to replace Proctor. Bates then drops to reserve and gets his confidence back and, hopefully, this makes Lions stronger, especially away from home.

Think you will find it will be two replacements ? The riders they are talking to  come off it will make Leicester stronger that's for sure.

He's not going to get his confidence back when he's on his @rse all the time, I don't think a spell at reserve is going to cure that chink in his armour

They were involved with the No Limits programme from day one when they were only 14 I think, and are now involved with the GB Academy. As someone said, they are a year behind the likes of Rowe and Flint  but are showing great strides. They are still only 17 so time enough to get involved with the Young Lions. By my reckoning, they’ll still be eligible for under 19s until 2023 and under 21s until 2025 so still plenty of time

In the BYC 500 section in 2020 the regular quartet in the final was usually Palin, Dan T, Joe T and Archie Freeman and usually finishing in that order.

Hopefully the Thompson twins Jordan Palin will follow in the footsteps of Dan bewley & Lambert into the international scene as they are holding there own in Poland to back woffy up & with leon flint who had a cracking debut last night for wolves & Anders Rowe along with drew Kemp it's looking decent for the Brits in years to come
