I thought you was a big wig in a number of groups on Facebook ? I donā€™t understand the current situation. Can you clarify what has happened to you and the groups, as you were forever extolling their virtues over the BSF. But you now seem to be here frequently, so I can only guess there has been a parting of the waysĀ

The speedway fraternity maintain momentum in efforts to get an eventual return for the sport at Coventry. This may be a slightly off-key query but are the oval car racing fraternity who ran regularly at the track from early 1954 onwards supporting the revival endeavours?Ā

I am just wondering out loud really here, but someone who hasn't been to a speedway meeting for 15 years, who has no intention of ever going again, who even stated his association with speedway was a bit of a waste of time, and repeatedly stated his dislike for this forum and many times announced his departure, added to his repeated preference for oval car racing.....surely the solution would be to join an oval car forum and you can better get your questions answered.......seems simple enough to me,but

Most of them are probably no longer with us, wouldn't you think?

Still, if dead people can vote for Biden, you never know!Ā

I return to this Post. It is to emphasise that oval car racing fraternity hasĀ links with Coventry from their 1954 start at the track until the closureĀ inĀ recent times.

I'm sure there are some very good ones on Facebook!Ā

Maybe they see John as a car crash waiting to happen. More bangers than stocks, although I can imagine one or two groups would like to put him in the stocks :D

I'm still in shock that he isn't on Facebook! I thought he was a major factor in the success of all those groups? Won't they collapse now?

That's weird, John...

According to Facebook, you ARE a Facebook user (with multiple accounts - unless there are TWO John Hyams in Penge), and you are a current member of at least one speedway group on Facebook.

Therefore, you should be able to access the page - and others. Did you forget that you are a Facebook user?

Sounds like a concussion injury to meĀ :o

I have no way of entering Facebook. I did have a series of links to it in my mails and deleted them. I believe there is one Facebook group where I am shown as a member. I did not start/open this. If I could I would close my membership. At one time I did have membership of several Facebook groups that I started. To my knowledge I am no longer a member of any of them.

In the workings of Facebook as I understand it the fact that I have left a group that I started does not close down that group. When a founder leaves a groupĀ n the far right panel Facebook usually give notice/advertise for a member to take over Moderation of the group. It was though a happening like this that I became Moderator of a New Cross group after its founder/moderator left it.

I do still have a personal Facebook message that invites me to establish contacts, log-in, and other associate requests. This I ignore.Ā

At present I am trying to establish - no easy task! - a contact with Facebook to have all links by me with them removed. Guess what? All I get is a series of auto responses - at least at the present time.

As I am now finding it may be impossible to establish a contact directly with Facebook. When I try all I receive is a 'no reply' email address (whatever that is!!)

I am still being ignored in my efforts to finalise getting out of Facebook. I now have found the email address to their security. I have just sent a 'let me escape message' there. Let's hope they respond.

A very interesting story is developing here. But surely to use your own logic, shouldn't you start a new thread, as I don't see the relevance to 'Coventry stadium revisited ' with this
